Phantasy Star Universe Open Beta Out

The Phantasy Star Universe Xbox 360 Open Beta is now available from Xbox Live Marketplace and will be playable through to Oct. 18th.

Sega has announced the long awaited/postponed beta this morning and 2old2play has confirmed the almost 940.50 MB download is already in Market Place. Players can now test the multiplayer aspects of the game with others on Xbox Live. To download, gamers must have an Xbox Live Gold account. Silver accounts will not work for this beta. Enjoy.

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 13th, 2006) – SEGA® Europe, Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the Phantasy Star Universe™ multiplayer open beta for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will be available for free download on Xbox Live© Marketplace starting on today.

Gamers worldwide will be able to play the newest addition to the epic sci-fi Phantasy Star™ series during a free-trial beta download period that will run for until October 18th, 2006. The beta will be available for download until Sunday 15th Oct. Phantasy Star Universe™ offers the best of both worlds through an exciting action-packed RPG single-player story mode and a rich online multiplayer experience. The Xbox 360™ open beta program gives players a chance to preview online multiplayer mode and is open to all Xbox Live© Gold level account members.

Yeah im waiting till this game is gone.... then im going to play the S*** out of it... i guess i should have let it DL all the way so i could play it today when XBL is down... now i feel stupid... lol hoping that PSU still works without XBL.

Even with the release of FFXI, I feel that PSU is the first true MMO game for the 360. Of course this is because PSU was developed specifically for next-gen systems. I can't wait for my download to finish so I can start whacking away at the mythical moths and beasts. PSO for the great old Dreamcast was one of the reasons I got into online gaming. If anyone else downloads the game and reads this post, look me up so we can enjoy it away from the all the meatheads.

I played the demo for 3-4 hours on Saturday, though I found it too be fun in a Diablo sort of way. I dont forsee myself wanting to pay $10/ mo to play a diablo game. An MMO should have more to it than PSU has.

WoW and the like are all basically grinding games, however they offer variation in environments and more free-flowing areas. Where PSU seems much more like diablo 1 in that every level looks the same. It's fun but theres not much past running from room to room kill everything and continue.

just made it before i had to go to work... if the Sega servers are seperate from Xbox live then maybe ill spend my time there (as well as the rest of the entire DL base)

im just about to go on a mission to get my Nova arm.. im dieng to see how badass it will be...hoping it works tommorow.

BTW, they also fixed it and put the Dragon bosses in (it had froze previously), let me tell you these guys are NO joke... holy shnikes i almost crapped my pants whan i first saw them. badass is an understament.
