Do you 3D?

A year ago I was completely against the overpriced 3D technology, since it was still relatively premature and felt like a fad. This weekend, though, I was in Sams Club and noticed the price of 3DTV's has dropped pretty drastically over the last year. A full HD, 47 inch 3DTV, glasses, and a wall mount for under $1000. I did a bit of research online and found that the TV is rated very positively for that price.

Since the baby was born almost 3 months ago I haven't been doing any gaming whatsoever but still watch movies quite a bit. There's quite a bit more 3D than there was a year ago so the new price point has really piqued my interest.

Right now I have a huge rear projection TV. The thing is massive, the light guns aren't aligned correctly, part of the gasket around the screen is hanging into the top 4 inches of the picture, and it sucks up insane amounts of electricity. But it does what it's supposed to do and for that reason, I can't complain. But the drastically lower prices of 3DTV have me leaning toward ditching it.

So my question for you, the 4 people who read my blog, is this: Do you have a 3D TV?

Actually, here's the $64,000 question: Do you actually use the 3D on your TV? Or did you use it for the first week and now only watch regular HD stuff? Also, is there any cable programming to merit the use of the TV, or would I need to keep shelling out $40 for 3D Blu-Rays?

I tend to overthink things and I also have buyers remorse for every single purchase I make over $100. Website reviews are helpful, but I really want to hear from actual human beings with 3DTV's about their real life use of their TV.

Sorry for late response... Yes, I love my 3D. Mitsubishi 65" DLP with 3D. I will always buy the 3D version of a game. Mortal Kombat 9 was a prime example. My main gaiming system is the 360... thats where all my friends are and I have a whole library of 360 games vs 2 for the PS3. When MK9 was released, it was only available in 3D on the PS3, so I bought for PS3. Now I always check for 3D versions before I buy. Now, that being said, here's the kicker. Me and my wife both can view and enjoy 3D content. My step-daughter gets a headach 5 min. into 3D, my son doesn't see it at all. From what I find, that's about right... 50% give or take can do 3D with no issues... the other half have issues. Need to check 1st what side your on before investing $$.

My boss is a massive gamer and immediately jumped on the 3d bandwagon. He used it for about a week, said "that's sort of neat" and hasn't touched the 3d since

I've thought about 3d tv in the past, but have decided to wait until see how things are going to pan out over the next couple years. I have a 42" Samsung LED with a blu ray player that looks super sexy. So I'm content to wait it out for awhile.

I'm still holding off on the tech. It looks neat, but like you I'm not sure how much I'd use it. I'd say for sure my next tv purchase (in about 3 years or so) will be 3D, I figure by then the tech will be not only more advanced (and cheaper) but better utilized as well.

I purchased a 55" Samsung 3D TV and love it. My son and I watch Soccer regularly on ESPN 3D and he's been enjoying the Little League World Series. We own several 3D Blu Rays, mostly kids movies as they enjoy watching them, and I have played Killzone 3, Crysis 2 and MLB 11 The Show in 3D and enjoyed them, especially Crysis 2. Is it for everybody? No. Is it still a novelty? Yes, but a pretty frickin' cool one when you use it. My glasses have stayed charged over a month on one charge with regular use.
