Monsterhunter World and UFC3

It's been a while. Between my disease, forced community service and returning bouts of WoW I only recently came up for air to see what else is going on with gaming. 2017 was all about lootboxes and absolutely deepthroathing anyone who put out a game that didn't had them, resulting in me spending the lowest amount of money on games in years, compared to the budget that I kept for the last decade to satisfy my gaming habit. At least youtubers were able to cash in on the widely carried hate, so there's that.

Going forward with nothing: Youtubers on the way out.

The last week on You-Tube was dramatic as the company failed to act quickly and decisively hot on the news that traditional media outlet 'The Guardian' had pulled their advertizing from the You Tube platform. While this may have come as a surprise to some, I could frankly see it coming a year ago, when I posted a few blogs about the lack of self-awareness under youtubers. One can't keep abusing the goose with the golden eggs and expecting it to keep on giving to eternity. A youtuber has to take responsibility.

Compelling versus straight face: my gamer-crisis everlasting.

Has one read my blogs over the years, then my personal crisis with the consistency of what games offer should be a familiar theme. I've over the breadth of it sought the answer within myself. I'm not getting younger and that comes, amongst living at a slower pace to name one aspect, with shifting interests where other things not only beg for attention but take importance over something that I used to do or love. A long line of nice women who answered my charm can tell you stories, which is a more respectful way of saying that familiarity breeds contempt.

Being a gamer: A stigma of our own making.

Can one sit there with dry eyes and still proclaim to be a gamer with love for the hobby? Can one maintain such without having a poisonously bad aftertaste in one's mouth after the recent events unfolding in the wake of the EA-access Mass Effect: Andromeda promotion? If we maintain that we're gamers still, then aren't we responsible for the events too given that reason and measured opinion is totally absent from what's going on in the community today?

Logan: When the actors cost more than the production.

Finally having found the chance to enlist a family-member to cart me to the Imax in my hometown, I was able to see 'Logan' before it left the theater already. The high rate of rotation of movies in Imax means that you have to pounce on the chance to reserve a seat. If you instead wait to reserve at your leasure, you'll be seeing another movie. So, I went to see 'Logan' on it's closing night.
