Going On 10 Years

This September, I will have been a "movie reviewer" for a newspaper in Tulsa for 10 years. It's my badly paying second job. Mostly in that decade, I've come to hate the things I once loved. Going to the movies isn't a fucking treat anymore, it's pushing the proverbial boulder back up the fucking hill. I'm not even sure I like movies anymore.

Halo As "Sport"

Since my daughter arrived I haven't had a lot of time to play Halo, which is my chosen "gaming" activity. I've had the argument with Speedbmp numerous times that I'm not actually a "gamer," per se, I'm a Halo player. I don't really give two shits about anything else.

Sure, from time to time, other games have captured my attention. I played through Gears with Malice on co-op, then pretty much filed it away. I played the hell outta Crackdown for awhile. Played some CoD4. But I always come back to Halo.

Confession

I'm not catholic. I'm not much of anything, really. For whatever reason, I need to get his off my chest.

Shortly before my daughter was born (okay, the day before), I bought a PS3. I'd been sitting on a bunch of money I'd received for Thor'smas and my birthday. I had considered a bunch of gadgets for my cash. A new phone. Those $250 MLG Headphones. Some NAS for the home network.

And then I watched HDDVD go down like a $5 hooker and thought, well, fuck.

Metal Up Your Ass

What are the last five albums you have procured, either through traditional currency exchange, on loan from a friend or perhaps on loan from a stranger. I'm on a huge music kick right now, along with the reading thing.

Down - NOLA
Down - Over the Under
NIN - Y34rZ3r0R3mix3d
Chevelle - Vena Sera
Rise Against - The Sufferer & The Witness

Unfinished Tales, Vol. 8

S-words for $1,000,000

Sunlight filtered through the occluded windows above his head as Flynn made his way slowly down the hallway, small tufts of dust billowing from beneath his black combat boots. He tugged at his white collar, imagining for a moment that perhaps there was a God and she was trying to choke him wondered if maybe the maintenance guys had some sort of dislike for this part of the building. People don’t know how to use brooms in Italy?
