Do you hate your employer?

As of the last couple years, the focus of my job has shifted to legal compliance and as such I'm subscribed to several newsletters to keep me abreast of changes in employment law. I've taken some interest in the topic even considering going to law school.

Oscar Nod Marathon, Part I

This year, shortly after the Academy Award nominees were announced, I decided that for the first time in my life I would watch all the Best Picture nominees before the awards. It would have been a lot easier before last year (when there were only 5 nominees instead of 10). I already saw a bunch of them prior to the announcement, and the last week or so I've been watching more as I find the time.

In no particular order, here is the first batch of movies and my super-abbreviated reviews.

Game Trade Frustration

Yesterday, I went to Best Buy to trade in some games and pick up DC Universe Online and Little Big Planet 2. The closest Best Buy, which is less than a mile from my office, does not participate in the used game program so I had to drive 20 miles down the road to a different store. I usually try to avoid that store because it's right on the Massachusetts border, so the roads and parking lots are always clogged with Mass residents trying to save a buck or two on sales tax. I got lucky with a parking space behind the building, grabbed my bag o' games and went inside.

Games for pre-schoolers?

If I'm on your friends list, you've probably seen me playing an inordinate amount of the Toy Story 3 game the last couple weeks. To my delight, my son is following in my footsteps and loves video games. Also, just like his daddy, he plays them exhaustively up front and then tires of them after a short time.

PAX / GGW / I am a boob.

Waterborn contacted me a while ago regarding shooting some video at PAX East. Over the last few months I've been hit with a very heavy dose of real life, and now it seems that every waking hour I'm either at the office or working on home renovations in preparation of the new baby. As extremely interested as I am, I know that I won't have any time to prepare for it and I also know I'll be out of town that weekend. Between PAX East during the day and the Gamers Gone Wild party at night, I had all but convinced myself there was no way it could happen.
