So far I am liking it, the only issue I have is because I am running the video through my cap card it is only showing up in 720p or at least that is what I am guessing. I picked up BF4 for it and 64 players on the map is pretty freaking cool. I have been messing around with the settings and things and I a pleased with it right now, but I definately see what people are talkign about when trying to join parts and the other little nagging things. Hopefully the update that is coming out this week helps with some of that stuff.
On odd thing I really noticed is that since I play with headphones the kinect could not calibrate voice/sound since it could not "hear" it. So what I did is when the test sounds were running I tried to immulate the same sounds, the wife was like wtf are you doing and I was like, being awesome off course!! She just shook her head and moved on..LOL
It worked, at least I think it did. I was able to talk to people in a party chat last night.
Below is a clip I got last night, it is pretty round and kind of pixlelated but meh, for free it is not too bad. Lets see if I can embed the code. Well I guess that did not work. Meh, nobody reads this anyway. rofl.

So I had a few freak out moments during the OS install. I had an old upgrade version of windows 7 that I used a couple of times on my old PC that I thought I would be able to use on my new pc (yes the full version is present on the upgrade disc), but when I entered my product key, it did not recognize it. I had 2 different people read it to me and double check my typing and unfortunately it was not going to work..So off to Fry's electronics to purchase a full windows 7 version. CROM DAMN YOU MICROSOFT I WILL HAVE YOUR SOUL ONE DAY!!
So I jam back from lunch (yeah I was putting my comp together at work) and installed the OS. Everthing booted up fine and I saw the old faithfull windows 7 desktop, but, the dreaded red x was over my network connection...So I had someone bring over their lappy and hook into the ethernet cable to see if the port was working at the cube I was doing the install in. And yeah it was working...FUCK YOU ETHERNET PORT YOU WILL NOT STOP ME!!!
So I assumed that the drivers needed to be installed for the port, so I logged into the Asus website from my work comp, downloaded the drivers onto a flash drive, went back over to the cube with my new comp, downloaded the drivers to the desktop and told the little driver update to EAT A DICK AND UPDATE!!! BLAM!!! SUCCESS!!
So after 4 hours of updates I felt I had enough updates to finally be able to take it home and finish up there, but I wanted to make sure I could see my drives before I got home and did not have my IT buddy to trouble shoot for me. I opened up windows explorer and...I can only see my SSD drive...WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shut down, tried switching to different Sata ports, reboot, rinse, repeat and still no HDD...Looks like the computer gremlins were not going down without one final counter attack.
I call up my buddy and run the situation by him, he said he was on the way and he would take a look at it. He shows up, I run by everthing I did, so he reboots the comp and we both see that the bios screen recognizes both drives..He tinks about it for half a second and starts laughing...At this point I am like, I am about to pull your heart out through your chest if you do not stop laughing....He looks at me and is like, dude..you are not going to believe this..We need to assign a drive letter to the HDD and you are good. I thought he was fucking with me and I asked him if he was, he said no and said just watch. 11.2356 seconds later he assigns a drive letter and it pop ups in windows explorer....
NOT TODAY COMPUTER GREMLINS...NNNNOOOTTTTT FFFFFUUUUCCCKKKKIIIIINNNGGG TTTOOODDDDAAAYYYY!!!!!
So I break it all down, get it home and continue the update process for 3 more hours...and below we have the final product:
I will probably unloop those molex connections so I can seat them a little closer to the board so it is not so ugly, but not tonight..Tonight I have to install Steam and will probably download my Torchlight 2 and a game or 2 I got free for the graphics card purchase. My next step is to bug Doodi or Hitman into helping set up Xsplit or OBC so I can start streaming the 360 gameplay...IN 1080P WITH ALL MY EPIC GAMING FAILURES!!
I will keep updating my blog with that little adventure..Thanks for reading peeps, this was fun to do and terrifying all at the same time!!
So I was able to get more goodies added today. Things have been going much smoother compared to having to deal with that freaking cpu cooler.
Below are some more pics:'
Ram, Graphics Card and Capture card
SSD put into removeable from bay:
HDD in front bay
DVD drive in top expansion bay. Plus no need to screw it in, the case has a spring loaded system that I just line it up, push the button and it extends some tiny arms into the screw holes..(THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!)
and all the cables attached..Yeah I know craptastic cable managment but meh..I just made sure nothing was getting in a way of a fan or touching something that would get hot.
So I did boot it up tonight and everything is turning on so far, tomorrow I will do the OS setup and attach the final cable for the GIGANTOR fan on the side panel. I will get a pick of what it looks light at night to post tomorrow.
Wish me luck!!
So I brought all my PC crap into work, so the IT dude could help me after work and start putting the rig together. I wanted to make sure I had someone with PC building experience with me before I just started doing it on my own.
And let me tell you, it has already come in handy.
That god damn processor fan was a huge fucking pain in the ass. When you put the bracket on the back of the board and then try to screw the screws in from the front, we had to put A LOT OF PRESSURE PUSHING THEM TOGETHER and I thought for sure we were going to crack the board. Honestly we almost gave up on it 5 different times last night, but we finally got it in,. We got a few of the plugs in on the board and mounted the PSU. Tomorrow night we will probably finish putting it together but I am secretly putting stuff in during work today while things are slow...LOL.
Here is a pic of what is done so far:
So thanks to my HS football stipend that came in and a coupld other things I was able to put in orders for the rest of the pc build last night.
Now I will agree pretty much with anyone that says I probably went WWWAAAAYYYY overboard, but I wanted to make sure I minimized bottle necks for streaming as much as I could without completely going insane AND have a very solid base for future upgrades if I want to go that route.
Sio without further delay here are the rest of the parts:
Zalman CNPS9900MAX-B Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED This thing is freaking huge...I will post a pic, but you need to watch the video I post to get a good understanding of its size.
and now the text formating has gone insane...meh
So that is it so far. I will be shipping this stuff to work, so I can make sure I have some control of where it is being dropped off and not just in front of my house. I will post up with build pics later when I get all the parts and attempt NOT to break all the new goodies.
I am going to start to post some blogs about my most recent time/money waster...
I PLAN TO BUILD MY FIRST PC!!!
Yep that is correct, been using them since BASIC, but have never build one from scratch. I have replaced hdd, PSU, video cards and ram, but never assembeled all the parts and built one up from nothing.
So I have picked the brain of a couple PC geeks and started a wish list on Newegg. Now you may (or may not) ask why are you doing this LB and I will tell you because my current comp (8 years old) finally crapped the bed for the final time, plus I want a rig that I can stream my spectacular gaming failures on. Yes I know the Xb1 will be able to stream on twitch, eventually, but that time frame has not been too clear as to when it will be AND I am not super confident it will be working without a hitch from the start...
Also I am not abandoning my Xbox gaming ways, yes I play some pc games here and there, but it is more for streaming then anything else.
So I want to build a rig that can handle at a minimum 720p 60fps streaming. Which means yes I will be going for a Hasswell i7, at least 16gb's of ram, intensity pro capture card and a BIG O'FULL SIZE ATX CASE!!! i am tired of working in a case that is barely big enough for the components that are in them, not to mention my meat claws.
So after coming to a decission on using the Asus Sabertooth z87 mobo and actually reading the suggested components guide from Asus I have started picking up parts to "potential name of the comp goes here" taking advantage of some discounts on Black Friday:
My case Cooler Master Haf X blue edition...CUZ I LIKE THE PRETTY LIGHTS!!:
My SSD and HDD:
and the power supply:
Corsair cxm 750
That is all my wallet can take for now, I will update as I go along and I might even record the "build event" so everyone can get a laugh at me freaking out.
Oh and I will leave you with these last few images of...BEWBS
From time to time I come up on some pretty cool and out of the box stuff on the internet (I know not really news). I came across the embeded video and article today while reacding an article on IO9.com. Now some of the reasons they have given as to WHY you would want to do this are stretching it, since you can do all the things they listed by buying a product for less then 10 bucks compared to slicing your body open and inserting a magnet you bought over the internet after coating it with something you HOPE does not give you and infection or kill you.
None the less the concept is kind of cool. You can check out a how to video below.
WARNING IF YOU GET SICK AT THE SIGHT OF BLOOD OR CUTTING INTO FLESH DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO..AT ALL...UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES...OR IF CREEPY ELECTRONICA VAMPIRE MUSIC FREAKS YOU OUT DO NOT WANTCH THE VIDEO EITHER.
This game makes my man parts tingle.
If you have not seen the Rev3 interview with Respawn, I have it embeded below.:
