Randomness

So I get this email the other day for a single parent dating website. I've used online dating in the past and generally had pretty good results. I met my last fiancee on matchmaker. Granted she ripped my heart out after 3 years, stomped on it, then became a lesbian...but I did meet her online. Anyway I figured I'd check it out. Of course they want what I consider to be too much money for a membership, and looking through profiles lots of people in my match results hadn't logged into the site for over a month.

I'm a good boy...I'm a good boy....

So last night, about an hour before dinner, I suddenly had an urge to get a burger.  I'd been hungry pretty much all weekend but had been able to resist, but at this point it had gotten to the point where I have no resistance.  I went to the nutritional sites for Wendy's, McD's and BK and attempted to rationalize what I was going to do.  The thing is, when all you're eating for food is oatmeal for breakfast, a Fiber One post-workout, and then tuna and asparagus for lunch and dinner it gets old.

Head...imploding...

As a guy, I naturally fear and loathe change. Its in my DNA. So this past Wednesday as we were watching a giant semi pull up at the gym with new equipment there wasn't quite the excitement from the members I was observing with. We began ticking off lists of equipment we hoped would stay, and then began to reassure ourselves by pointing out equipment we thought definitely needed to be replaced, and as such would be replaced, instead of stuff we used regularly.

More Blasting

Ok, back in the 70s I had this little hippie red, white and blue transistor radio I used to keep under my pillow when I was in bed. I'd listen to White Sox games when they were on the west coast, but mostly I had it tuned in to WLS radio and would drift off to sleep with contemporary music droning amidst the static. Sound familiar? Betting many of you did something similar. So I got to thinking about some of the songs that stuck with me decades later. They weren't necessarily great songs, and they probably haven't aged particularly well.

Blast from the past

Does anyone remember the song Music Box Dancer?  It was a big hit in the late 70s.  Had it cross my mind yesterday and dug it up.

I think its fair to say a lot of people around here grew up in the 70s.  If I get a chance over the weekend I'm going to dig up some other 70s classics that I know we all listened to on our transistor radios under our pillows at night.  :)

Updates

Operation: World Peace got off to a good start last night. Kitty kept her blanket and I broke out the comforter. She shot me several suspicious glances from her blanket as I settled in on the recliner last night, but she got to keep her spot without a fight.

However I do believe a larger problem may be looming:

Yes, she has decided to try out the comforter. This could get ugly, folks.

Poor Kitty

With the weather getting colder here in...er, Argentina...and with it being too early in the season for the landlords to be obligated to turn on the heat, blankets have become the order of the night. Normally I don't bother, even in the winter, since the heat works a bit too well in my place when its on. However during this part of the year I usually grab a throw or something to cover up with in the recliner when I go to bed for the night. The problem is Kitty has taken a shine to this throw so usually I leave it in the middle of the couch and she sleeps there at night.

Dumb injuries, Part 2

A couple weeks ago I blogged about a particularly ridiculous injury I had sustained.  Guess what.  I think it happened again.  Behold:

For reference, thats my upper thigh about 4 inches below my hip.  So there you go ladies, a little skin for you!  Right, anyway...

Forza 4 = Disappointing

I am not really good at videogames in general anymore, but in particular I have never been good at driving games.  Oh sure, if a game like Burnout came along where you were actually supposed to wreck cars, or the old Demolition Derby games on the PSX for example, I could do well.  In spite of that I enjoyed the first couple GT games, with GT3 being particularly special in my book.  Everything after that was a waste, but up to that point I could make decent progress and still enjoy the game.
