A National Championship, sort of........

Disclaimer up front: I bleed Scarlet and Grey and hang up buckeyes instead of mistletoe at Christmas.

Did the BCS "work" this year? It's very difficult to say. Once USC was out, I wanted a rematch with Michigan. Instead, we get Florida. Can I argue it, sure. But, I could have argued against Michigan getting it too (and DID, until USC lost).

A Modern day Hermit

So I was a hermit today.  Not by design, but, as I reflect upon the day, it sure worked out that way.  Now a dictionary definition of a hermit is: any person living in seclusion; recluse.  However, I'm stretching that a bit to say someone with little or no human contact.  Let's examine my day today.

The Generation Gap

So, it's been a whole year since the XBOX 360 came out? Why, everyone who's anyone must have one by now, yes? All the truly devoted gamers on this site must have one by now, right?

A Look Forward

Recently in the Politics thread, there was a post about how the elections might turn out. People were sharing their predictions, so I shared mine. What follows is actually an edited version, because I've had more time to think about it (and it's not 1:30 in the morning now and I'm not half-drunk). Anyway, here's monkee's predictions:

On November 7th, various people I have never met will be elected to represent me and my ideas. However, they will always vote for either 1) what they personally believe in, or 2) what they have been paid, bartered or coerced to "believe in."

I can taste it

I have two more weeks left on the Project That Would Not Die at work.  It's not dying, they're just moving me to another project.  I have been "on loan" to that project team for 21 months and counting.  I guess the loan came due, because I'll finally be working for my actual boss again for the first time in almost two years.  This is a good thing.  My boss is awsome, as I recall.  :)

A DS Tale

So it's no secret that I love my DS. And, it's no secret that a lot of gamers today are older than 12. So, I was very perplexed during a recent business trip.

How to influence friends and win people

Influencing friends is easy. First, you go have some life-enriching moments with them. You know, the kind that "stay in Vegas." Then, you drop hints about how you're worried the video from Pete's Pootang Palace might end up on the Internet. Indicate that the only thing that will ease your mind is if your friend <insert thing you want to influence>. Your friend is suddenly "under the influence!"

Third Life

I have a friend at work who just got into Second Life.  I won't join him.  Although the concept is pretty cool, I already spend more time gaming than I "should."  No, that's not sacrilege.  It's true.
