A helpful tip from your Uncle Zikan

If the police show up at your door and ask questions about you or your child's recent activities, do NOT just answer their questions.  They are not there to be your buddy, they are not there to figure out how things are going.  It is their job to find crimes and stop them - They are trained to asked questions in ways that get you to share more than you have to.  You have legal rights - excercise each and every one of them, or you may be seeing your kid carted off to jail in handuffs ...

Voter Reform to Spread?

Just keep changing the rules until the vote turns out the way you want. What could be more democratic than that?

I fear we are going to need impartial observers from Cuba and Venezuala to start monitoring our elections and make sure we are being "fair."

Now *her*, I like

Most atheists I've interacted with (or people that claimed to be atheists) seem to have a knee jerk reaction when it comes to dealing with religious topics - and more specifically with Christianity.  It was refreshing to read about someone that saw what she perceived as a slight, and took it on directly - even though it was about how unfairly Christians are treated in politics and the media.

And another thing ...

This story reminded me of a rambling diatribe I saw on MSNBC the other day (the only 5 minutes of cable news I've seen all year) where they cover how the President "went street", which in turn recalled another video that's been rattling around in the back of my head for a few weeks now.  All of these comments are patently r

Dastard was right ...

Well about some things, anyway :)  According to this article, the current disconnect between Washington and the people (and even moreso the current administration) is not a passing thing or a whimsy, but instead a core, idealogical difference as to what this country is and how it should behave.  They don't get it.  They never did get it.  And, odds are, they never will get it.
