This is what I had copy pasted into a google doc for my own reference from Fantomas:

TUNE YOUR CAR IN 1 MINUTE ! , great handling ,smooth driving over kerbs and bumps. I use this all the time.

FWD ( all cars )
caster 7.0
ARB 20/35
Rebound 10/12
Bump 1/2
Differential 25/10

RWD ( all cars )
caster 7.0
ARB 25/20
Rebound 10/12
Bump 1/2
Differential 25/100

MR Rear engine - Mid engine ( all cars )
caster 7.0
ARB 30/20
Rebound 12/10
Bump 2/1
Differential 25/100

4WD ( all cars )
caster 7.0
ARB 20/35
Rebound 10/12
Bump 1/2
Differential:
front 40/0
rear 50/70
torq 70

The tune for camber, toe, springs and ride height is your choice. Personally I barely touch this areas.

Fantomas

You're not the oly one who's having trouble editing your own posts. I'm going to have to get with Doodi & have him sort that issue out.

In the meantime, I'm going to pove this to the tuning, painting, & racecraft forum. I'll also sort the post a bit

This looks interesting! Would this be a good base tune setup to then tweak and hopefully learn some of the tuning techniques?

There was a tuning calculator designed by a guy a while back in FM/2 and he kept updating it thru FM3. Can't remember who this was but, it could get pretty in depth. Anyone remember the name of him (think he was in Europe)?

Yes it would.  These settings are also close to my base tune.  Is a good place to start and make refinements from here.

Nasty knows his stuff..... I think the guy you're thinking of is Feuerdog....he and boosted4ever teamed up with an App called Forzatune...it allows you to put in vehicle info....weight, tire size, hp...etc.  push a button and it calculates base setting for you.  I've tried both and this one is easier to commit to memory.

If it's rwd you like.....Nasties stuff is awesome !!!

Forzatune is pretty good, its an excel based program, quite in depth with the amount of info required, e.g: power, torque, power rpm, torque rpm, weight, weight balance, the list goes on. Almost every car ends with very similar settings though. I found with RWD the rear needs to be a lot softer than the front in regards to spring rates, ARB, bump and rebound, maybe because of my tailhappy driving style, I'm not sure. I haven't spent much time with FWD or AWD tuning though.

Rule of thumb with RWD is to have the rear springs softer. FWD front springs softer. Its the same in real life as well.

Tried Seat Leon SC (the current series tune) with 1/2 Bump and 10/12 Rebound and the car behaved as expected but also surprised how well it handles.

The lap time difference was only 0.5 seconds per lap at Infineon IRL which is a fair length track.  Comparing the ghost lap time, the car with these damper settings suffered at acceleration out of corners; not sure whether it was the slower corner entry or slight hesitation on power acceptance but the ghost can be seen dropping back by about 1/2 a car length at every corner.

More critical, however, was the car bottoming out at the usual locations at Infineon IRL.  Bump of 1/2 is equivalent to almost no damper therefore spring took all of the energy and the ride height was not enough.  In FM4 with no damage, this does not mean much.  With damage on, the spring rate will have to be quite high (which will overstiffen the car compared to its weight) to prevent chassis damage.

This was a very interesting exercise; learned a few things about dampers and taking them to their limits (never tried 1/2 or 10/12 before!)

I would have to eat some of my words and say that these settings do work under certain limited conditions.  I would caution, however, from recommending them as the single tune for all cars & tracks.
