[FM5] 2O4F Endurance Championship 2014/15 - [Finished] Thanks for Racing!

Welcome to the 2Old4Forza Endurance Championship 2014/15

Each month there will be one Endurance event, and by endurance I mean pain staking racing between 1.5 and 2.5 hours each event.

Each race will be done with different cars in a different setting. Damage ON for pit stops etc to make this more interesting as there will be no conventional handicaps of any kind for this series.

Each race you will cover a number of miles within the time limit. This will then be collated and put into a table. At the end of the series the driver with the most miles wins!

Teams are encouraged as always. New teams and old teams are welcome to join as always. This time though limited to two drivers per team as I'd like most to pair off and work with eachother to get a bit more competition going although privateers are also more than welcome.

Race time will be the 20:00GMT (Note GMT not BST) slot on the second Sunday of each month only if the host from any conflicting series is willing to postpone for one week.

Rules:
1.  You must use the car listed in the specs for each race. (For multiple choice races the car must meet the regulatiion standard)
2.  This is a NON-Contact event. However lightly rubbing or leaning on another car is allowed as long as it doesn't result in rubbing the other car into:
A) A Wall or Barrier
B) A 3rd/4th Car,
C) A totally different direction
D) Anything too aggressive that may prompt your opponent to submit a complaint against you.
Please drive clean and respectfully.
3.  Simulation damage will be enabled.
4.  Handicaps will NOT be enabled (See below for more information).
5.  Local Cautions will be in place for safety this is not a conventional caution this is to alert drivers that an accident is ahead so other drivers do not pile up into eachother. This is the drivers responsibility to tell others if they have wrecked and are obstructing the road. (usual caution rules apply).
6.  Each race night will consist of 1  90-150 minute races.
7.  Racing grid will be set to random (practice laps will be run from at least 1 hour prior to race time).
8.  Any cars found not to be built to spec and that have raced will be banned for the rest of the season
9.  All paint jobs must feature the drivers racing number.
10.  Any complaints must be made to me by Private Message here on 2Old2Play within 24 hours of the race finish.

Hope to start this for November. Builds are mostly done or in development. Testing has begun! So if you see me online please feel free to jump in and lend a hand :)

Current Proposed Calender, Cars and  Sign up sheet on Sheet 2:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16EMeinrIWJ3VgU65lXr9igPWE4YTupLf2RrfX6XRLSY/edit?usp=sharing

I have added a 90% target for everyone and toying with the idea of some sort of a system where if you meet 90% of the proposed distance you get a prize or something will be playing with a few ideas and will tell you all about them when I've worked out how I want to do them.

As always discuss and lets make this one heck of an awesome series!

The multiclass would be fun but the only downside would be milage covered as obviously the new stuff will cover more in the alloted time. so its either do two lemans one modern and one classic or pick one or the other but running both wont give the drivers a chance in the championship

Would be interested in this. I missed the last, had the wrong time frame in mind. Anyone know how BST compares to EST? Oh and modern Prototypes at Lemans.

I am suggesting damage on as it mean we all have to drive a little differently conserving tyres fuel etc and areo is repaired now so unless you total its not the end of the world and makes things even more interesting. what do you all think?

What I see is that I maintain bad habbits when driving with damage off.

When I join in a race with damage on some car's I damage the engine.

That bad habit has to go.

So I would say Yes.

I am already try to hotlap in the free drive enviroment there you can hotlap with damage on and see what bad habits are the problem.

More sugestions on how I can eliminate my bad habbits ?

This is what will make it interesting i usually run with damage on in single player and it helps you get used to using the clutch and shifting time so not to over rev the engine and it just makes life a little more challenging for everyone.

Almost got a car list ready then to start buying and testing, this could get expensive!

I'm cool with damage on for most of the cars, but a bit reluctant when it comes to modern F1 due to the speed and passing difficulty

Damage on makes it more of a challenge :) dont forget winning a race is only the battle won the war is a lot more races.

Its not too bad cherry. I did the hopper on spa weekend, and provided none of us are deliberate crashers ;) then well be OK. If you are going slowly might worth shouting up about the moving chicane!

Guys I've put up a proposed list of tracks and approx distances the times do vary with the longest being 2.5 hours and the shortest being about 1.5 hours. Over all they even out to be about 2 hours each.

The only reason some are longer is I want to replicate some of the events as best we can given the time constraints like instead of a full 24 hours le mans I am looking at a 1/10th version so its only 2.5 hours or there abouts.

The Muscle Cars and Tourin Cars I need to test and build but the other one build will be fairly stock so race brakes and drag tires will be the changes (only reason for drag tires is for degredation as otherwise there is no need to pit and I want to force some pits to try and get some strategy into the race, again this still needs to be tested)

Let's make this happen, always happy to hear your feedback

I have added the build columns to the Spreadsheet some I have updated need to build up the other cars still but is proving expensive and wont be able to build anything until Sunday afternoon so will update when I can. Like i said most will be fairly stock so no major extras.

With the drag tires?

Ive spoken with cherry in the bathurst thread and seems the drag wheels are deteriating too quickly so probably staicking with Race Tires

No,sorry that was with race tyres. Doubting the actual number now but the Holden VE had one point more than the Ford and VF.

Yeah not sure I want to pit 8 times in two hours lol. So will be race tires with mandatory pits but as you have to watch fuel anyways there should only be one or two pits. but then things are likely to change to build etc before the series starts or before some of the races like the touring Car one I've taken specific cars off so we can see more cars on as long as they meet restrictions. Much like a touring car event (using the Super Touring Rules, slightly amended). The Sebring race I need to work on and other than that I think the builds can remain stock as I think the E21 and Indy cars are both fully tunable from stock.

AS always though if you have any suggestions or comments let me know as input will be definately needed :)

How can you see fuel level ?

You have to switch to the telemetrie page's ?

Not realy easy with a trustmaster wheel.

Don't get me wrong, it was just the Indy at Indy that didn't feel great

I did a FULL Indy 500 last night and i had to pit a thousand times namely because I was playing with drivatars but also on the laps where I wasn't killed by computers they were fun on the Race tires, they last almost as long as a tank of fuel.

majong wrote:

That's impressive but must have killed lap times by lap 10.

All in all though the full 500 miles were completed just in the 2.5 hours I set the game up for but that was because of unnecessary pit stops. so you could probably get a good 520 or more in there in the time allowed however. I have decided that Drag tires probably wont be viable as all the races are long and even with race tires an not pitting every 20 laps you will need to pit a good 4 or 5 times throughout the race.

With Bathurst an the drag tires I discovered that they were degrading about 8-10% a lap and over the course of a 2 hour race that would be about 8 or 9 pit stops, so again i have retracted the Drag tires in favor for the Race tires.

I am yet to test the other races as I am yet to buy a Lotus E21. and decide on the other races. I hope to do a full test of Bathurst soon although the pain of the last race is still very much fresh in my mind. Probably will buy a couple of the touring cars for tonight and see what happens around Silverstone. If anyone does feel like jumping in please do add me on XBL (Snoop SLR8789) and we can get this series sorted :)
