as of right now, no. These are the highest hp cars we have run in a formal gt6 event and with this also our first endurance event in gt6, I didn't want to try to many new things at once.

hmmm, 7 laps eh Stevie was wondering how many it would take...

1) any chance of pushing it to 8 laps?

2) how were the tires after 7 laps?

Maybe at a push you could make 8 laps.

First stint I tried softs they had about 6 front 5 rear when I needed to pit for fuel (I know we are only to use medium but I get better life from the other 2 ) and after pit stop they get worse mediums 5/3 by the time I had to make second stop.

I ended up running about 1 hour 40 mins all in. The day to night to day was cool. Lost count on the number of pit stops I made

Grim can you maybe open up the tyre compounds to all 3 just adds to the mix

I was originally going to go with the fast setting but that would basically make it a two stop race. Since the real 24 hour races have many stops I went with very fast and will allow for some pit strategy. The only track that will use fast is the ring due to having to pit every 2 laps.

Its been brought to my attention that not everyone may have the Base Model.  Based on this, I have also opened it up to either of the 2 BMW M3's (BMW Motorsport) (2010 or 2011) in addition to the Base Model M3 GT2

Thanks Grim! For some reason I dont have the Base model in the dealership. I dunno, you think its an Award car? Maybe it doesnt show up till after you unlock it? Seems unlikely, weird.

The base model was the first car I purchased. Then nearly all other base models.

There  have been a few times in gt when things have not been as should. I could not get into snappys lobby one night so I setup my own to do a few laps only to find out I didn't have the Brands hatch track could not find it anywhere. Another time my Megan trophy car disappeared but was fine after a restart of the game.

I'm sure there is a BMW race car as an award but I'm sure it's not the base model.

As for rain and different tire componds being added. I'll look into it.

The concern I have with adding rain is the lap times will be increased thus pushing it past the two hour mark (including the qualifying session) and I really dont want to impact someones prep time for the Super Tour Car event on the FM4 side.  Im also not convinced the rain is working all that great.  That said, I will look into it further as a possibility, however the initial race will be in the dry.

As for tire compond, Im still thinking about that.  Looking at the Megane race at Tokyo, it really was not much of a race for me (and I dont mean that with a cocky attitude).  I spent a lot of time coming up with that pit stratagy and it was clear I was the only one that was using it and winning the race by over 30 seconds even after taking 2 pit stops. After the first few laps, I was just hot lapping and that was only a 40 min race.  Not everyone can dedicate the time to prepare for a race and I kinda want the pit stratagy to play a role but not a race determining role (if that makes sence).  All that said, we do have 3 weeks between races so there i time to test/prepare so we may open it up.  I'll get back to you shortly.

May not make much difference though as no one has signed up (hint hint, nudge nudge) - Link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkjeJ12H53YmdGJhR0lKRWFJUk1QQzM0cWQwQXA4RlE#gid=0

I like what you said about the optional tire compounds Grimm and totally agree with the reasoning. Having everyone on the same compound rewards smooth driving and does not give an advantage to people who have time to practice numerous different race strategies which there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, that’s for sure but does simplify things for everyone which should generate more close battles for those of us who are somewhat close in speed.

That said I promise to give you some competition this week at Monaco!!!

For the Tokyo race my practice race involved hard tires which I knew could last 12-13 laps and also knew that hard would be required to finish the race out (because of the pit stop bug) if I wanted to do a one stop strategy that I totally assumed would be faster than any 2 stop strategy which in fact it wasn’t even close as you easily proved. Never tested soft tires so had no idea how much faster they were. Maybe inter tires could have worked better on the first stint but that’s not the point.

But for Monaco this week I tested all three compounds and the soft were significantly faster so I’m pretty sure I’ll be going with a 2 stop strategy using soft throughout the race unless you surprise me with the number of laps.

And to either a) embarrass myself or b) lay the gauntlet down for you :) I’ll throw out my best Monaco time of 1:35.2xx but if I can pull off a sub 1:36 qualy time I’ll be content with that.

I don't think it matters what tyre we use as it's down to the fuel. On all the tyres I tested I could have gone longer on all but I had to stop for fuel

Not really surprising and thanks Stevie but that sort of means there's no reason to test/practise for this race anymore and that saddens Parcells. But screw that its Spa I'm testing!

Since fuel is a significant factor in this event, and since we "may" have rain on a couple events, Im going to open it to all Race Componds.  Thanks everyone for the info.

Parcells has never been a fan of BMWs and I’m not quite sure why that is but this car does handle pretty well I have to say. But I also need to say Grimm that this car is in competition with the worse sounding car I’ve ever driven in 6+ years I kid you not. WOW, is it ever terrible. I found myself wanting to let off the gas pedal just to stop the excruciatingly painful sound emanating from what I can only assume is some half-dead animal caught up in the engine block or something…no offense of course angel

I wonder (thanks to kurupt bringing this up) if those that dont have the 15th Anniversay pack are missing some of the base models?  Luckily, there are two other BMW's that can be used for this series.

That's great! You can send me some cars when they open up the sharing feature. I didn't take advantage to the extent that you did. I'm down to 15 mil. Practically broke! Thanks in advance. LOL
