Hey Wheels, 47 is already taken also, take a look at the number sheet at the below link and let me know which number you want to use going forward from the numbers available - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkjeJ12H53YmdEpZUXU0TmlZMC1qdTB1WGl3R2Iya1E#gid=0

Thanks

3G's...Just wondering if we should have numbers in Forza 5  and GT6 separately. Reason I asked is the GT6 only goes up to so many numbers while Forza can almost have any number you want?..I have no issue with any number but just want to find one that won't step on anyone's toes!smiley

3G's...How about 'Ol School's number...7...He swore Hell would freeze over before he plays GT6!!wink

I have added a column for GT6 numbers and updated those that had a valid number in FM4/5 that will translate over to GT6 and have inidcated that they have GT6 so they can keep thier number.  The sheet is sorted in FM Numbers however you should be albe to find a GT6 number that is not being used.

Thanks again

3G's...How about the number 77 for GT6?  It seems no one has it!!laugh

Couple of topics I want to cover:

TUNING: I have been asked about this and initially I didn't have a problem with it as long as people shared the tunes. After running laps at Bathurst I am leaning towards locking the transmission  and aero settings to stock BUT allowing most other adjustments. I don't know how well this will be received so ill try to explain the rationale: a spec series should, in my mind, try to really emphasize Driving Skill with as many variables being equal. Now, this may seem crazy since I've introduced so many other variables like weather and day night transitions. I consider those more about the environment and the driver's ability to adjust their technique. Anyway, this is an exhibition race and there is plenty of time to evaluate my intent once we've run the event. I hope this doesn't affect people's interest in the series.

BATHURST AT NIGHT: It's crazy! Visibility is going to be an issue once the sun goes down. Be sure to map you headlight controls and make sure you drive a few laps there in the dark. The weather will not be an issue since I will not be using variable weather. The forecast is for dry conditions with good daytime visibility.

THE RACING: This race is going to require a heightened degree of patience and awareness of the position of other cars on the course. Passing opportunities will arise but forcing the issue could result in calamity. I would suggest that drivers select a view that provides the greatest amount of visibility but that they are still comfortable with. Once we start climbing up to the essess all the way through to Forrest Elbow its going to be a wild ride. Should be great!

I also want to echo CPro's sentiments about the Brand's Htach race. It was incredible. I have never raced in an event like that. Bathurst should be just as good. Especially since we will be a bit more prepared.

Thanks for participating and Happy New Year!!

-Snappy

P.S. I will update the OP with the Transmission and Aero Settings later today.

Snappy...Personal Opinion...If I was a tuner I would say YES...Let me tune and tweak...To me it is a no-brainer...Whoever has the know-how to tune will have the advantage. If you want a fair no advantage race then keep everything stock or whatever you change on the car make it available for everyone. That is what Parcells does!..Keeps it simple and fair...His Way (Or Suggestions) or the Highway... When we do seasonal events they give you the car...they give you a track and say go get it. It is your race...You make the decision. If someone like me or anyone else doesn't like it...Run It (The Race) or Skip It!smiley

P.(arcell)S.....Snappy...If I misread anything you said or your intentions...I Apologize!smiley

Parcells remains on board no matter what you do Snappy. That said, my thought's on your recommended changes....

1) I like them as the gearing and wings make a significant contribution to the overall lap times. Because this car handles so damn well out of the gate and because of nothing that Wheels said :) in this one instance I am forced to agree with the old fart IF driver skill is the ultimate goal which it rarely can be even in real racing to be honest. I have a wheel, you may have a controller, I may have a better wheel than you but no one has better pedals then Greg hence its never down to skill alone but who gives a shit anyway I just want to have a competitive race which, luckily for me and knock on wood, usually turns out to be the case. There is a room setting which allows you to force people to use stock builds and tunes which is essentially what we're using.

2) If you do go with stock gearing could you please update the OP with the gear settings please and thank you...I didn't see a "default" setting and have changed my final gear and have no idea what it started as.

Although I have no problem with predefined gearing and aero settings (was used a few times in the FM4 Series also), I do hope you allow for suspension adjustments to fit driver styles.  Having a stock setting is an advantage to those that happen to prefer that setting.  To everyone else, its a disadvantage.  Some people prefer a softer suspension package while others prefer a firmer suspension package to fit their style. Some may want to just stiffen/soften just the front or just the rear depending on what they need the car to do.  Just because someone happens to prefer the stock suspension does not make it fair for everyone.  It just means you were fortunate enough to have it fit your style.  If events allow for updated tunes/suspension and the default one works for you, use the default settings as you are not forced to change it.

If I were to hold a race and have a tune that EVERYONE had to use and it was really loose as hell but I preferred it and forced everyone else to use it, is that fair to everyone else?

I just don't understand this infatuation with stock settings that seems to be prevalent in GT6

3G's..I personally don't care what is what..I would love to win every race but that is a pipe dream..More like taking care of the rear. Running the track for time with no one around is one thing but traffic is another. Let's just have a good time and not get too technical...Just too many variables.smiley

Its definitely more simplicity over infatuation for Parcells. But the gearing still makes sense for evenness. Still dont care unless of course the prohibited tuning option also prevents you from changing your brake balance/pressure setting then I'm totally against stock tune but would still race, just set my ABS to 1 :)

Is it that bad to have these....?

Minimum Aero Settings

Fixed final drive settings

I agree that Differential, Camber, Caster, Toe-In/Out are critical for the "feel" of each car. Which is why those would remain adjustable. Trying to strike a reasonable balance so that the event is fun and still challenging. I think this is a good compromise.

Not at all snappy, I actually like how you worded the aero setting as "minimal aero setting" as it allows for some adjustability if you prefer to have a higher DF car.  My comment above was around the notion that using the "stock" suspension setting offers no advantage when in fact it does to some drivers.

As for the Final drive setting, I would also lock in the actual gear settings (and include them in the OP) otherwise what's the point of locking the final drive.

I know this may seem picky but if your not clear in your instructions/settings, people will interpreted it differently.  For example, you clearly indicated that the car was to remain stock last week (except for race tries) yet people were adjusting gears and aero settings.

This is the neverending debate over at iRacing between the open and fixed set up series.  The guys that don't tune, like me, prefer the fixed series.  The guys that do tune, prefer the open series.  If you allow open tuning, then the guys that don't tune are at a disadvantage.  If you restrict the tuning, then no one is disadvantaged, its just that the guys that tune cannot make the car perform better than stock.

I am OK either way.  I raced for years in Forza 3 & 4 knowing I was at a disadvantage because I don't tune and so the guys that did tune, and who better understood Forza physics, cars and tracks, would kick my ass.

I'll get them posted in the OP.

These are old debates but I'm glad we discussed them. I see and understand the different points of view. I think with these two rules we will still have a great time racing these cars.

BTW, thank you for posting the tune. I'm glad you did that. I am very confident that this next race will be very entertaining. Looking forward to it!

while in the garage "some" cars (including this one - needs to be your current car) provides an option to select a number for your car.

You have been added to the list in the OP.

Looks like we will have as many as 13 cars on track. I believe that there may be others. I will check the list against my FL this afternoon to make sure everyone will be able to jump in.

Also, I will be setting up qualifying for 8 minutes (I had accidentally left it at 6 for Brands) and selecting the "Race Alone"  setting. This way we are not all on track at the same time. Fair?
