Not sure I haven't played enough but for it's current state iam sure it's like that because they haven't completed or implemented the penalty system yet and it's there to avoid any false starts. Asides from seeing promos of upcoming content and features on Facebook I've put all the betas aside till there in the final stages than I'll return. All my racing time is being spent optimizing, practising for races at r2p and rd in gsc 13 :)
Yes I was having a look around the forums and both SLI and Crossfire seem to be causing issues, seems for all next gen sims single GPU is performing better.
That will be fine, I have a 670 running triples and it's fine......I would suggest trying to get a 3 gb 770 so u can crank everything and be able for possible multiple screens in the future. But for 1 monitor 2gb is more than enough
Ink, you might want to make sure that you don't have AA enabled in your graphics card utility. According to kunos that can be a frame rate killer, especially when also enabled in game.
Also from what I can tell, smoke and reflections are also way too GPU intensive to be worthwhile, so I have both turned way down.
Yeah I keep looking at the Palit 4gig 770, for triples it is just perfect and so much bang for buck...My 670 could then be dedicated to PhysX or sold off.
I've been eyeballing the r9 290x on ebay at my local store it's selling in the $550-700 range but I've been seeing them new on ebay starting at $350? I had a chance at trading my 670 + $100 for the 770 but the deal feel through....too good to be true lol
how do you go about setting up 2 different cards to run one for graphics and the other physic x and what's the advantage?
You set the card you want to take care of PhysX in the Nvidia Control Panel. That card take care of physics modeling, ie does all the calculations and passes the results to the display card that then pumps 'em to the screen. Divides up the workload in games that use PhysX...like pCars, for example.
Probably not a great deal to be honest, I think it would be of more benefit to older cards, newer ones like ours and the later ones are well capable of chewing through the data without help. The 290 looks nice and would give me a 100% AMD build, but I dunno, my Nvidia cards have just been working so well with all race sims. The 770 4gig is dropping down to a price I can justify and should give me the FPS boost I sometimes need. My 670 2gig gets so close, but running triples...well you know yourself :)
Yup here ya, I figure if I could 10-15 more fps and the extra 1gb I'd be able to run all my sims on max and not drop below 60 fps. Iam gonna wait till the games are fully released and optimized before wasting any more cash on my PC as it's a never ending money pit.
atm with my specs AC is running the best out of any of the next gen sims, only settings I ve turned down is smoke and reflections as the has been a bug causing them to be frame killers, asides from that it's all maxed with max allowed ai, the big test will be this fri tho!
Yeah , I figure doubling the Vram and a more poweful card will take care of it now, and then things can only get better. If I can unload my current card then it's not such a big outlay.
I've thought about selling mine many times on the local web site, unfortunately I don't think I could get any more than $150 cdn at most which is 80-60 euros :(
but than you go on ebay and people are still selling them for mid $400s? The second the 700 series came out all the local shops stopped carrying the 600 series I have 16 days left on my extended warranty maybe an act of god could cause it to become defective and get a 770 replacement :) one can only hope
Yeah I popped in for my usual monthly trial at the wrong time by the looks of it.
All I wanted to do was try the Laguna Seca and Nordschleife mods but 0.9 has broken mod functionality.
I'll be back next month to try again lol.
It sounds like there are (at least to me) a decent foundation for mp in place. Yes there is still a long ways to go, but its not like this is kunos' first rodeo and up to this point they've earned the benefit of the doubt from me for a little while.
Booking in mp is a bit odd to me, but it sounds as if it will offer the ability to offer a permanent club/series server where all members can be able to pop in and out as they want. To me the big issue is that you can only have one session per booking, so after the race you have to find a new server. Once they make it so that you stay booked in one server and have race after race without having to exit, I think that will make it a bit more enjoyable.
Seems to be somewhat stable, I thought the booking was odd too, but from what I gathered if you get dropped or leave for whatever reason the system will keep your stats till the end of the session which will allow you to re enter the room and continue from where you ended. But yes once more features are available it will make more sense. Iam sure the host will be able to pre select xxx amount of tracks to run in continual sequence which is the norm for all sims ATM
So far I like it . It took me some time to realize that booking was how one would get into the race but after that smooth sailing. Had one race at Nurburg GP and I must say 25 cars going into turn 1 was pretty intense . It is very laggy at times . I do understand its still in alpha or beta stage so I hope those issues will be taken care of . So far havng fun.
I haven't joined a mp session yet, but I am curious if your experiencing lag or frame drops? I've found when racing ai when entering t1 my frames can drop up to 60% and I've been experiencing big stutter pauses every once in a while since the the last build. Some one posted here that reflections and smoke are a big frame killer. There's a few guys over at Gbr that are interested in the game as well, I might start running a thurs night server if there's enough interest ?
I still get some micro stutters, but the mp suffers more from last for me at this point. Racing against a guy with under 200 ping and his car still had the jitters.
I still get some micro stutters in some corners regardless of the mode in playing in. I know my rig isn't top of the line, but I average hotlap framerates around 130 fps.
All in all the game is on the verge of being great, especially with the mods starting to take off, it just needs to get some kinks ironed out and hopefully they'll start bring in more features, like flags, pitstops and the like
I for one can't wait for the day that all our racing titles iron out there bugs :) personally iam not a very big fan of mods anymore and will take a good variety of official content hands down! There is just too many issues and very few modders can meet the quality of these next gen games and conversions from past sims IMO are a step backwards and ruin the immersion for me. But time will tell :)
plus with all the hackers out there it's only a matter of time until they rip content from fm5, Pcars and re3 and bring them to rf2 and AC ;)
Very few modders can meet the quality of these next gen games and conversions from past sims IMO are a step backwards and ruin the immersion for me.
An excellent point I have stated many times to the ignorant reddit crowd.
The detail involved in making a quality mod takes years now instead of months.
Plus all those who do make the quality mods end up employed now anyway lol.
I am growing to Assetto Corsa after trying out the Nordschleife mods available, I'm bursting at the seams having to wait to get the laser scanned version
I agree about the conversion track mods being mostly garbage, but there are a few scratch built tracks being made that are coming along quite nicely.
The mods that are really making the game stand apart for me at the moment though are the two rivali apps. I absolutely love having a grid laid out with your best time in every track/car combination. I'm not sure if it'll work with modded cars and tracks, but as it stands now it's probably my favorite feature, even more so then ai and even mp at this point
Yas it is a cool app, tho basic enough that iam surprised Kunos didnt implicate themselves? both pcars and rre have a similar ingame feature only difference is its more of a leaderboard tracker that you customize its just not on your screen while racing. Actually RRE can display the banner at the top of the screen telling you how far your your friends/world record times
I've liked what I've seen in R3E, unfortunately it randomly crashes on my machine. That and I'm not a fan of the pay 2 play model. I wish they'd just offer a $50 or $60 package to unlock everything.
If they get their stuff sorted with nvidia and have a decent mp, I might jump in. But until then AC is where I'm at. I must say that even though all these new games are wip, its an exciting time to be a PC Sim racer. AC, Pcars, Rf2, R3E, SCPe, possibly the new Grid game as well, not to mention all of the oldies but goodies. I'm thinking more everyday that going PC was a way better choice than getting one of the new consoles
What's the deal with the start?
I'm unable to select 1st until the light changes to green, is this normal?
Not sure I haven't played enough but for it's current state iam sure it's like that because they haven't completed or implemented the penalty system yet and it's there to avoid any false starts. Multiplayer coming May 2
I'll check a few updates ago I was getting mid 40s at race start avg 60 during races pretty much on high/max settings gtx 670 2gb
if iam correctly like other next gen sims I don't believe sli or crossfire is supported yet
Yes I was having a look around the forums and both SLI and Crossfire seem to be causing issues, seems for all next gen sims single GPU is performing better.
Like an Nvidia GTX770?

Asides from the obvious less work load on the card would it benefit any more fps or less VRAM used?

Hi Guys,
V0.9 released today with Multiplayer Alpha support!
Not tried it yet though!
Yup multi player is a mess and very confusing to say the least.....but again it's alpha so it's to be expected
