Yes PC is the way to go for racing, so much to choose from, no matter if you pick a fave and tend to stick with it to get the best out of it, my preference as constantly switching sims just confuses me, they all feel different and I like to have some consistency in how my kit feels, or like others dive from one to the other, there is something for everyone.

On the subject of mods, well there is good and bad. Pleclair's green hell in rf2 shows how someone with commitment can go from knowing nothing about moding for a sim to producing good work in under a year, and over the last year I have got to know and talk to some modders and see work in progress, and there is more to come, more moders working quietly in the background than you may think. Several have started on conversions just to get a feel of working with the new sims and are or will be working on scratch track mods, cars little has changed, the modeling is done the same way using the same software it always has, the physics guys have more work yes, but that is just more detail, more parameters to model with better accuracy than ever before. It is also true that the best get snapped up, the two golden boys of rF2 were for sure, Feels to simbin, but Tuttle to ISI, so great for both sims.

Yeah it's true that most the sims have a way to go and that is a little frustrating, the solution for me was to get onto an internal test team and have some influence, input and understanding of how things work, that way I know where my chosen sim is going, what is planned what is coming soon and what is on the back burner and why, it does help ease that frustration. Though it can add a different level of frustration too LOL

I think the thing to remember is PC sim racers are not a here today gone tomorrow kind of gamer, it seems we hang about for years, as do the sims we race, 9 years or more for rF1? and it is still well used and well thought of. So I will be patient, fairly confident that those sims that stay the course will still be about in 5 years looking better, running better and with more content.

Yes I want it all and I want it now, but as my old Dad used to say...I want, never gets.

If this doesnt get your racing juices flowing, it might be time to hang up the racing gloves wink

And this is a conversion, not even a scratch built version

Assetto corsa released there dream pack #1 along with a big update to the game brining many needed features to the sim, penalties, flag system, improved Ai to name a few. They also released a 1.2 patch shortly after to address a few issues. The dream pack brought the much anticipated laser scan of the nurburgring with 4 configuration's along with a bunch of cars. http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/assetto-corsa-updated-to-version-1... Assetto Corsa Dream Pack 1 Launch Teaser: https://youtu.be/_a98ukR9RPM I haven't bought the dream pack yet but Iam sure I will shortly after spending a few hrs with the game last night I must say I really enjoy there suspension ffb effects as it really gives more overall feel of what the car is doing Combined with the Tire model which is no better or worse than the other Sims it gives you alot detail. Scrolling through RD legal mods available there is a ton and seems the molding community has really taken to this title. Personally I prefer official dev content over mods, the majority of tracks I tested are very well done and can see the difference with using dx11. Cars for the most part look very good, physics...? Hence why I prefer paying for official content. All in all the title is coming together quit nicely considering the same size of the dev team, atm my only complaint is the lack of race cars and rl based series as the current selection of content is mostly street cars :( Hopefully this will change with more dlc content.

I still haven't turned more than 2 laps the day I bought the sim.  I probably won't be buying any add-on stuff at this time.
