Race Against Real Life IndyCar Drivers?

Hey guys,

An acquaintance of mine is involved with the IRL leadership and he wanted me to pass along the below note as he knows I like to race on-line. I know nothing more about this than what is below except that at this point they are just trying to garner interest so do not shoot the messenger.

any of my FB friends like to play forza motorsport or gran turismo? If so, we need your opinion. Would you be interested in a virtual racing series that was tied to the Indycar series so that during the real Indycar race you could race against the actual drivers? We will accurately represent the real cars in the virtual environment and then place your car as the 'extra' car in the grid. Virtual series will pay out $10M per year and will be a monthly subscription to participate ($5-$19 per month depending on how much you want to participate). The subscription will allow you to re-run previous races, watch the actual race after the fact along with bonus video coverage available only to subscribers, and progress your skills to gain new virtual sponsors on your car during the season. Oh and BTW, the virtual and real cars will look a lot like this..... if you like the concept, follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/x1racingseries and tell all your virtual racing friends to do the same. we need as many followers as possible and asap. spread the word and let's make something really cool come to life.

Marshall Pruett wrote an article that sheds a little more light on what this X1 series is about. http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/121229-insight-someone-s-always-buying... Interesting concept but I'd rather watch an Indycar race live versus racing against them. I also think they may be overestimating the amount of revenue this project" would generate.

Mike Earle, the brainchild of this idea, is responding to user comments which is ALWAYS a smart thing to do when you're trying to sell an idea.
