New Releases: Week of July 17, 2015

It is literally too hot to be alive. It's too hot to go anywhere, it's too hot to go to work, it's too hot to go on vacation. It's too hot to do anything but sit on a bag of ice under a wind turbine and play games. Unfortunately, game publishers hate you and they aren't giving up the good shit until it cools off. However, the 2o2p writing staff has sifted through the dumpster to find a handful of games coming out this week with the promise of playability. This week we have a deaf spacedog made of clay, an old-school RPG side-scroller with that retro Sega Genesis look, a MOBA favorite comes to the XB1, Telltale gives us another episode of Handsome Jack, Volume tries the stealth approach, and another zombie thriller lands in a crowded litterbox.

This claymation-style point and click space adventure is being delivered to the PC master race first, but a release date of September 8 has been set for the PS4 and WiiU.

Curses 'N Chaos

Release Date: August 18

Platforms: PS4, Vita

This side-scrolling action RPG has a low-tech 16 bit look to it, but I guess that's the thing this week.

Smite

Release Date: August 19

Platform: XB1

The mighty MOBA that lets you play as a god is coming to the XB1 on Wednesday. If you missed your chance to play the beta then you're in good company: I didn't play it either.

Tales From The Borderlands Ep. 4: Escape Plan Bravo

Release Date: August 18-20

Platforms: PS4, PS3, PC, XB1, 360, iOS, Android

Telltale's take on Borderlands gets a fourth installment this week, but the release schedule is kinda weird. Playstation and PC gamers get it on Tuesday, Microsoft gamers can download on Wednesday, and phoney gamers have to wait until Thursday.

Volume

Release Date: August 18

Platforms: PS4, Vita, PC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t71RRWCGn0

Thomas Was Alone creator delivers on a new maze-type stealth game. It looks like a low-tech Nutjitsu, but with a hologram instead of a squirrel.

Zombi

Release Date: August 18

Platforms: PS4, XB1, PC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4ty6xIllB4

Ubisoft has entered the crowded zombie survival horror genre with this digital only offering. Buying an Ubi game these days is a complete crapshoot, so read a review or two before throwing money at this one.
