New Releases: Week of June 6, 2016

So I'm an expatriate Texan spending my very first summer in Washington State. Although the temps are much milder (90 degrees vs 105 degrees) I do miss air conditioning: my home office is a sauna right now. Early June is a lull in releases since nobody is going to release much right before E3.

Edge of Nowhere

Release Date: June 6

Platform: Rift

Insomniac brings the first credible AAA game to VR, so Edge of Nowhere  is a litmus test of sorts for the fledgling platform. The tone and subject matter are a little darker than we're used to seeing from Insomniac, but they can't do Ratchet and Clank forever...or can they?

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Release Date: June 6

Platforms: XB1, PS4, PC

Faith returns to play protag in the sequel to the game that launched a thousand would-be parkour artists into the hospital. Run around, jump over shit, and kick stuff, but this time without the linear level constraints of the first game. Graphics have been upgraded substantially and the story looks decent: it could be fun, but don't go trying that parkour bullshit outside. You're too old for that kind of thing.

So, Kirby is still a thing and a new pink platformer is coming to the 3DS this Friday.
