Why people unhappy with their lives these days

Why people unhappy with their lives these days - By Legomancer, 18th April 2001

It's video games. Specifically, video games you can win or finish. That's ruined everything. When we were kids, there was one thing we all knew: The Space Invaders were coming. Yes, you could shoot at them, you could destroy them, and you might slow them down a little, but then they would resume their inexorable march. You couldn't stop them. You couldn't win against them.

I hope it goes better from now on...

Asus FINALLY gave me an RMA number.  after a week and a half of trying to contact them.  Since I am sending my motherboard to Indiana I think it would take two days to get there.  So hopefully I can have the replacement next week.  I hope they just put a new bios on that motherboard and send it back.  I really don't want to have to go through Microsoft Support to re-register Vista.

Zune versus First 1st Gen Ipod nano

Now that I have had my Zune for a over a week I will compare it to my Nano.

What the Zune does that the Nano doesn't
Video playback is cool. I know the newer ipods and nano have this. The larger screen (I hear it is larger than the ipod) is really nice. The software does have to convert video. But when the new zune and firmware come out it will have native support for h.264. Video podcast will not need to be converted.

computers can be a pain

Got a noticed that there was a new flash for my bios that improved the conroe timings.  Flash failed.  I hope Asus has good tech support.

FedEx, you bastards!

Last week woot.com had the 30gig Zune for $100.  A co-worker and I each ordered one.  I ordered about an hour after him.  My package left Texas about a half a day after his.  He got his Zune yesterday, mine hasn't even hit the Champaign, IL switch over.  Since I had it shipped to work I won't get it till Monday.  Grrrr.

The Forge

This is what consoles need in order to compete with PC FPS. Though user generated maps would be better, modifying the existing maps is a good substitute. UT and HL2 on PC are still superior but I like that consoles are getting close to the same features as PC.

I am finding Halo 3 is ok. Having the ability to play PC FPS titles I am not finding anything about Halo 3 exciting. It's what PCs have done 3 years ago. however, the ease of controls in forge and ease of replay are unique. you can do the replays and modify maps on PC but not as easily and quickly as Halo 3.
