Toys 'R' Us New Policy? Or is it Old Policy?

I went to browse Toys 'R' Us games in my local store.  They had many conspicuous signs about M-rated games can only be purchased behind the electronics counter.  I looked around and no M-rated demo boxes were on the shelves, either.  Toys 'R' Us already has a pop up reminder to check ID when a M-rated game is scanned.  What I believe the policy means is that you can't put non-demo boxes of M-rated games out nor can you purchase M-rated games at the regular registers.  Did my store go above and beyond the corporate policy?  If any readers noticed this in their town, I'd love to know.

My Name is Robb, and I Like the Music in Boom Boom Rocket

The main argument against Boom Boom Rocket is the music.  I've honestly never heard of a positive review of the music in BBR.  Maybe it's my age, but most of the songs would have been excellent singles during the 70s Disco Era.  As variations of classical music, they are excellent.  Something else to remember is that when fireworks is choreographed, it is almost always to a classical music piece (notably:  1812 Overture).

Elsewhere, I played MKII online on the PS3.  It lags, but I played against a spectacular opponent.  It made me angry to lose so much, so I had to quit.

When You Lie to the Media, You Become the Story

One thing the news is good at is printing stories that are on the forefront of debate at any given moment.  Unfortunately, Mr. Jack Thompson decided to use the murders at Virginia Tech as a launching pad for their own personal agendas.  The isn't anything new, but its in very bad taste.  MSNBC has run a story with expert gamers and expert psychological analysis that is both credible and contrary to Mr.

What You Get Buying Gyruss and 3-D Ultra Mini Golf on XBLA

I saw a lot of negative comments about both Gyruss and 3-D Mini-Golf on Major Nelson's Blog. First off, if you like the demos, you like the games. Focus on gameplay rather than graphics and sound. Here's why:

Reunited With a Classic

Mortal Kombat II is now a download at the Sony Store.  The game is fantastic and it seems to have balanced the AI for player 1 and player 2.  MK II in the arcade and the emulated versions had a problem with player 1 being near impossible to beat the AI, and player 2 was easier.  It wasn't a direction-facing problem, either.  Player 2 was just easier left or right.  To get some perspective, play the Midway Classics on PSP and play is on PS3.  The PSP is a faithful port, but less fun to play.
