Math - the anti-game

Ug. Just got out of an algebra test. Don't ever let anybody tell you adult education is glamorous.  It's balding old men doing quadratics with people half their age, that's what it is.  Our teacher is convinced caffeine inhibits the mind, but I gotta be honest, I don't care. If I'd thought of it far enough in advance I'd bring a shotglass and do Mountain Dew shooters prior.

On the positive side.  Hell, got out of class a little early - might be time to sneak in a game.

why am I still playing Shadowrun?

Wow. You ever start to wonder why you're still playing a game? It isn't that I don't like the game, or even that I don't enjoy myself, it's just that, well, frankly, I'm really bad at it. It's a combination of lack of experience and a sort of wakka-wakka-fruit problem.

Kurtz (pvponline.com) and I don't see head to head on a great many things, but this strip was dead on. Lucky for people like Cole and myself, I suppose we can always play with the bots.

Microsoft & E3

Allright. Not sure why, but I actually took the time to download and watch microsoft's E3 presentation. Suspect I know why so many people were complaining about it being dry. Oh good lord, believe me, yes, it was VERY DRY. Problem is, I've seen those sorts of speeches before, just not from the video game biz. That is exactly the sort of speech one gives if you're trying to impress shareholders or making a mass-market sales pitch, NOT trying to please the gaming public. Oh no, that was a "buy our stock" speech if I ever saw one.

E3 an old boys club?

I'm gonna try and keep this relatively brief, it helps minimize the confusion, considering that the blog editor doesn't include line breaks. Is it my imagination or is this new closed-circuit E3 rather...vain. Like the academy awards. A bunch of stuffed shirt old-men hanging out behind closed doors congratulating themselves for what they percieve to be good work. Doesn't feel like it has much of anything to do with the fans at all really. Oh sure, the trickle down effect is supposed to take place. Press takes what they find and sends it out to us.

Ouch

I apologize to my own eyes for not knowing this blog editor doesn't include carriage returns inbetween paragraphs. Ouch. I shall continue to quest for ways to improve.
