Belated Review #1: Metro 2033

I've been meaning to write more review type stuff in order to inject 2o2p with things other than Halo/COD/Gears and hopefully get folks excited about trying new things. So I'm going to kick off with a game that I finished earlier this month: Metro 2033.

I'm sure by now many of you have read reviews all over the place about this title, so I'll keep some of the rehash to a minimum.

A Day In The Life: Videogame Lead Animator

Whilst surfing the internet for work related articles, I came across this one on a career development website. Presenting a Day In the Life of a Lead Animator

By Phil Scott on September 15, 2009

Jonathan Cooper is Lead Animator at Montreal-based BioWare. He has been doing animation for a total of nine years—five of those as a lead animator, and around 3.5 with BioWare. Originally from Scotland, he holds a Bachelor's in Design in Animation, but says that "no qualifications are really needed" to break into the industry—"just a really good demo reel."

The Preferred Nomenclature

So I'm getting married in July, and I was out in LA last week for bachelor bacchanalities, and the only request I had was that at least one gathering consisted of a Big Lebowski viewing with everyone drinking white russians. So my buddy reserved a bar, and whipped up this:

Pretty sweet, right? Well, the night of the event, he unveiled a whole other bunch of posters he's been working on, here are a few:

My Visit To EA Los Angeles

So I got a good friend from college who has been working at EA Los Angeles for the last 7 years. Unfortunately he is one of the few, the proud, the soon-to-be-laid-off as he is part of the Command & Conquer team. They are getting released at the end of February when the latest installment of that franchise ships. Thankfully, I was able to arrange a visit during my trip out there last week.
