Good Morning!

The Press and Writer's blog is being ressurrected and is prepared to bring you 2old2play news, and talk about gaming issues. So bookmark this sucker already! The big question is this: if it's a ressurrected blog, does that mean that this blog is a zombie-blog? If so what special powers does a zombie-blog have?

First I want to give a shout out to Mostly Harmless and his blog. He's an English teacher in Japan, so if you want to see meats on a stick, or a Japanese Denny's check it out.

Got unauthorized HD in your xbox? Yer screwed you cheating bastard. Major Nelson confirms that they aren't going to work after the next update. Does anyone know of a way of getting the information off an unauthorized HD? If you have an unauthorized HD, is there any recourse?

An a larger gaming scale, Fable 3 is going to have microtransactions. Do you think this is a way of monetizing cheating or do you think it's just an extra choice for the gamer? I thought that they were talking about something like this for a Call of Duty (or some other FPS) where if you bought the premium version of the game you unlocked a certain weapon right away. Anyone else remember this?

And lastly, as always if you ever want to write for the main page, have ideas for content or community events please come forward. You can either PM this blog, or J-Cat or Caesar.

I'm okay with M$ keeping control over their enterprise. Unauthorized storage devices represent a bite being taken out of their profits. The devices may even present future ways for people to cheat and steal over XBox Live. In the end it would cost people, who are willing to play by the rules, more money.

bad company 1 had the limited edition sku come with extra powerful guns, like level 20 guns or something.

Microsoft's Xbox Live Director of Programming, Larry Hryb (Major Nelson), posted an article on his blog entitled "Don’t use unauthorized Xbox 360 Storage Devices". He explains that they will no longer work after the November Update. It looks like this may just be an attack on Datel memory units and not HDD clones. http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/10/16/unauthorized-xbox-360-storage-... The following are comments posted on Major Nelson's forum by people testing the beta version of the update. "Just got update. I can confirm that the Datel Memory card is not working." "I have updated my HDD that was a HK knockoff (NO xbox1 emulation etc) from an amazon affiliate. It works"

I to can attest that the datel memory card no longer works after the dashboard update. Seeing as I had one to increase my storage cheaper then M$ was willing to charge for. Which means the notion of preventing the memory cards from working was meant to possibly prevent cheating or steal over xbl a little off. Since they can still use the datel HD, that let you back up data from a the HD and then back that up on your comp via usb. It is all about profits folks. M$ wants to take the Apple model and roll out a larger hd every 8 months or so, we then have to buy more for our storage needs.
