A real blog entry? Am I insane?!

Holy crap-tacular, Batman. It's Wednesday, 08:14 am CST, and I'm at work...looking at the empty secretary desk. Yup, that's my job today: babysit the unringing phone. Pits.

On a better note, I'm actually getting out of my gaming comfort zone and trying new stuff. My buddy Roke got Left 4 Dead uno y dos for Christmas and hounded me to buy a copy. He said, "It's the best multiplayer, zombie-based game EVAR!" And, he was right. Been running around with Roke and my wife, trying to sneak past Witches and find those happy little Safe Houses. Been a "killer" good time :)

First Impression RETRO: Overlord

Still in story mode, just got a mistress (WTF was I thinking...)

When I buy a game that's been out for a while (I call them "fillers"), I tend to rely on reviews posted at www.x360a.org. They have yet to steer me wrong. I was saved from the temptation of buying Naughty Bear, and I was also encouraged to buy one of the best survival/horror games ever, Dead Space. Keeping with my personal tradition, I purchased Overlord. X360A was a bit more generous than I am.

First Impression RETRO: Transformers: War for Cybertron

Based on completed campaign, Autobot and Decepticon, Medium difficulty

Ah, those wonderful Robots in Disguise! Transformers have been a staple of sci-fi geeks, cartoon enthusists, and collectors for nearly 30 years. We've seen good, bad, and ugly from the various Transformers story lines. And, more recently, we've been graced by Michael Bay's Transformers movies, which really gave new life to a series that dwindled for nearly 5 years. As a forward, this game is not based directly on those movies.

First Impression: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

In two parts

The Story

ACB keeps in line by beginning right where AC2 left off. You are returned to the DNA memory of Ezio Auditore. In additon to much more control over your actual character, Desmond. The game mechanics are virtually the same. You move, hide, and fight just as you did in AC2. Sadly, there wasn't much care given to the overall look of the game.

First Impression Quickie: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels

Based on Arcade Demo Only

Foremost, you must be a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! or desire to learn to play the game in order for this Arcade title to be appealing. Considering that I started collecting the cards at Metal Raiders, and have collection book-valued at >$5,000, I would say I rather enjoy the game. Let me break it down:

First Impression Quickie: Guwange

Based on Xbox Live Demo only

An overhead, facedown, pixelated shooter. At first glance, I could've sworn this was a reincarnation of an old NES game. With a little help from Wikipedia, I found out this game actually released in 1999, and today it re-released on Xbox Arcade. Here' your review:
