Shared on Sun, 09/24/2006 - 18:05Today I was on a lunch break at a local restaurant in a local shopping area. It's not a completely upity area, but not entirely blue collar either. Here's the thing I noticed today while eating: Women dress up to go shopping.
So, no, it isn't front page news, but it amazes me how much money women will spend so that they can go out and look good just to spend more money. Really, it seems like the point is to look good and be seen spending money. I don't entirely get it, but that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the visuals. For the most part anyway. Granted, there are some women that try to dress entirely too sexy for their body shape. Some people aren't made to wear short belly-exposing shirts or pants that leave nothing to the imagination. Life's not fair, and I should know. I look like crap in spandex.
One particular woman of note, which will bring a small amount of relevance to the title of this post. Without this point, the title is just catchy and slightly humorous. At a table not too far from mine, this woman sat, dressed to kill eating a salad. Being a male, I gave her the full once over (in a casual way, not in an old-man, creepy, call-the-cops kind of way), and I was ready to give her Ag's Official Endorsement of Hotness. When she stood up, everything came to a crashing end, and the endorsement committee ran away in horror. Her shirt had ridden up her back a little, and the small of her back was slightly exposed. And it was hairy.
Now, I won't lie. I'm not hairless. You don't want to see me in a two-piece. Or a one-piece. I probably have more hair on the small of my back than she does. However, there's a bit of a double standard on the acceptance of body hair. I'm not saying that the ladies like a shag rug of a man, but women are generally supposed to be damn near hairless. Is it a good standard? No. Is it fair for the sexes? No. Does it matter, the hair on a woman's body? Hell yes.
Break me out a candle and I'll do that shit for free.
