Loss of a pet

Yesterday my wife had to put down one of our cats.  While it has been expected for a while, it's still a terribly sad event to go through, and I wasn't even there for it.  Even when you know it's coming, it's still hard to swallow when it happens, and it hit me a little harder than I expected it too.  I thought distance might numb things a bit.  I know with the divorce and a house up for sale, my wife has plenty of other things to worry about, and this is the last thing she needed.  She'd had the cat (named Feety) since 1992.  I only wish I could be closer to offer my support, as I know how difficult this is for her.

It's never easy to lose a pet. You, your wife and Feety will be in our thoughts. Take care man, and go to a pet store and play with a kitten. That's always helped me feel better after losing a pet. Sure, I cry more later, but you can't help but smile and be happy around a kitten.

That was one old cat. I think she was like 14 years old. When she took her to the vet that morning she was under 4 pounds. I have known that cat for 11 years, and it makes me a little sad as well. She was sweet.
