Shared on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 11:37So apparently today is rant day in the blogs. My turn.
First and foremost, for those of you that have read Stang's blog, I am in no way defending him here. He's a big boy. He can take care of himself. I'm just in a pissy mood and am gonna take it out here.
So I read Stang's blog in which he noted a few people here on the site at the least implied, if not flat out said, he was an elitist prick. I find that amusing as I have gamed with Stang quite a bit and generally find him to be quite humble and generally a nice guy. But, like I said, he can take care of that himself. What I have a problem with is how so many people get their poor little feelings hurt both here and on Live.
GROW UP PEOPLE!!!
This isn't your life or even real life. Good grief at the number of times I have read posts or heard comments in a lobby in CoD4 about ______________(fill in someone's name here) and all of a sudden that other person goes ballistic. Then it goes into a flame war, forum trolling, or an all out cussfest on Live.
Now don't get me wrong. I get upset sometimes when I feel like someone wronged me some way in a forum. But I take it upon myself to be the bigger person and leave it alone of just PM the person. It is amazing how easily people forget that there is no such thing as non-verbal communication in a forum. On top of that, why take it so personally? 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time that person doesn't know you or anything about you. If it does bother you, you need to look at yourself, not the person who said it.
GROW UP PEOPLE!!!
Timmy will be timmy. That is what the douchemute is for. If you can't ignore what Timmy is saying, you shouldn't own a headset. As far as invites... how and why would you ever be offended about not getting an invite or someone not responding to your invite? Seriously people. Are you that in love with the person you sent an invite to or that did not send you one? If you've got a mancrush, just admit it. Sometimes I don't respond to an invite. Some times I am only going to be on for 20 or 30 more minutes and don't want to fill a spot someone else could take and stay in the party longer. Some times I want to play Hardcore and I know the person sending the invite out won't want to. Sometimes I'm already in a party of people you don't know. Sometimes I don't send you an invite because our party is at 6 and we don't want to do Ground War. Some times our party just wants to play Team Tactical. Some times I just didn't see you jump on. Some times the party is about to fall apart and there is no point in inviting you. Some times I just don't feel like socializing. Some times I didn't see the message pop up that you sent. I am sorry if you like me that much and want to spend time with me and I don't always respond to your messages. But, I'm already married. Thank you, though. I am flattered.
Now I will admit, there are some people I prefer when it comes to gaming. Doesn't mean I will leave one party to join another all the time, but some times I will. Don't be offended. It has nothing to do with you. But, there are some people on this site and in my clan I have gamed with more and developed a friendship with. I like those people and enjoy gaming with them. Don't worry, I'll let you know I'm leaving. I'll even send you an invite if there is room. But there are some people that I want to game with when I have the opportunity because I don't get to game with them all the time.
It has been a crappy week at work so far this week. So instead of ranting about the mundane details here, I just decided to fill in the blanks with 2o2P stuff. I'm not really all that upset about any of the above mentioned stuff. I just needed to blow off a little steam.
8 days until I hop on a plane to Paris. Dadgummit I am ready for this vacation to be here.
