They announced today the arrest of a suspect and published his picture that will be the face of SEC football in general and Alabama football specifically to the rest of the nation for some time to come. There is even some talk in the heat of the moment about moving Auburn to the East division and Tenessee to the west so this rivalry can only happen once every 4 years.
The pisser of this is, I know this guy's mentality. Every little piss ant town, crossroads, or non-incorporated township has at least one. Most of these guys never attended college, and some have never even been to the campus but they live and breathe their team. If their team loses, they are in a foul mood for at least 3 days.
A little history on the oak trees at Toomer's Corner. When the Auburn football team was playing an away game, the only way news got back to campus was a ticker tape. Someone would sit by the ticker and every time the score was updated, he would run out to where Auburn fans were waiting under the oak trees and call out the score. If Auburn won, all the tapes would get thrown into the trees. That way if someone drove by, they would know Auburn won. It has since evolved to toilet paper and rolling the trees when an Auburn team wins.
The rest of the country is already pointing and laughing at the SEC for the Cam Newton investigation, the textbook fiasco, and a myriad of other stupid shit SEC schools do to try to get some kind of advantage. The posted pic of the mental midget that poisoned the trees will just add to the image of the southern redneck, the only class in America that it is still politically correct to make fun of.
