Shared on Mon, 12/27/2010 - 21:45Took my annual Christmas trip up north to southeastern Mass and of course, felt concerned with the weather coming in. Yesterday, I got to the Providence airport nice and early, and as we're about to board, the gate agent says "we're just waiting for our 3rd flight attendant", then we can go. So I think I'm looking at a little delay. A few minutes later, the pilots emerge from the plane, so I know the flight is canceled. After about 10 minutes the gate agent comes back, tells us the flight attendant called in sick, a replacement couldn't come locally as it had started to snow, and another was supposed to be on the flight from Detroit which just landed, but wasn't actually on the plane. I hotfoot it over to ticketing, and after an hour, get rebooked for tomorrow morning going to Atlanta via Minneapolis. I tell Delta I want them to pay for my rental car, but they won't as it's an act of nature. I then say "a lazy stewardess who wants to use up her sick days before the end of the year is not an act of nature". He then changes the gate agent's story, saying that the replacement couldn't get out because of weather, but it was all bullshit as they would have known that 2.5 hours earlier.
So now, I'm hitting refresh over and over again on delta's shitty website to check in for my flight, but having no luck. Other airlines websites are behaving. Guess with the Southwest/AirTran merger, I have a new prime Atlanta carrier.
Delta can go to hell. I have little idea if my morning flight is still on, or if I even have seats on the connecting flight. I've flown a lot in the past. Was previously gold medallion for a few years before settling into the new business and spending most of my time around home. Their customer service has gone straight to hell.
Screw 'em all. I hope that lazy bitch ass stewardess cracks her hip on a patch of ice.
