Egad! Drama!

All day today, I'm looking forward to an early night.  Asleep by 10:30, that's my plan.  Early to bed, early to rise, all that good stuff and whatnot.

Start watching some 30 Rock, and then I realize it's 11:00.  Then, I get a call from an employee with some drama (can't really go into that).  Then, I notice that I haven't seen one of my cats since I've been home today.  After an exhaustive search of the house, I conclude she is not in the house.  I go outside with a flashlight, and call her name.  No luck.  Then, she's on my back porch.  She runs past me and into the woods.  Took a good hour to coax her close enough.  After 2 aborted attempts to grab her, and getting my hands scratched to hell, I finally get her back inside.  Once back inside, her two kittens (well, they're 3.5 now, so I guess they're just her children) are all puffing their tails and hissing at her.  I'd like to think it's because they know she made me worry, but I think there's far more intricate cat language going on.  Maybe they smell the outside on her and it's creeping them out.  If anyone knows, please tell me.

All's well that ends well I suppose.  4 hours and 10 minutes until the alarm goes off.

Cats hissing and spitting and putting up a fuss when one of them has been outside is normal...this frequently happens when one takes a trip to the vet as well. They return home and their smell is not recognized, causing general havok and nasty attitudes...All should be fine within a day or so.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was some sort of smell thing, but figured they'd know the same cat they've known for their whole lives and should be cool.

If it persists, I'd suggest feliway. I just introduced a new cat and the feliway has really been helping ease tension.

is the the pheremone (sp?) airwick type wall pluggy in thingy? I have a couple of those, but haven't refilled in quite some time, so I'm sure they're dry as a bone.
