Sure, I've been very busy with work and home the past 2-3 weeks, but I usually find some time to get some gaming in. It's not lack of games. I still have Homefront in the shrink wrap, and have picked up a few games on price drops lately. I don't know what it is, but I just don't feel much like playing lately. I turned my xbox on twice this week, fiddled around the dashboard, checked for add-ons and then turned it off. I'm not playing PS3 or PC. I did pick up a 3DS, and it's okay, but really, the only time I have to play that is on the subway on my way into work. However, the headphone volume is so low, I can't hear anything, so it's a crap experience gaming on the go. I preordered Portal 2 today in hopes that it would re-ignite my desire to play. To be quite honest, I could not care less about it. Maybe we'll see a change on Tuesday.
I think there are a couple things at play here - my lady has had my ass on the go for the past few weekends. Haven't really had my usual relaxation time. Last Monday, we were playing a mini on the PS3, when my dog, Timmy let out a sharp yelp and then came to me for protection. I figured the cat must have whacked him, as is usually the case when that happens. He climbs up on my and I notice his left eye is closed. I force it open and sure enough, there's a visible scratch on his eye. I debate internally for 20 minutes and then decide to take him to the emergency vet. He's sent home after a check with one of those silly collars and 5 medications. The next day, I have to take him to his regular vet. One medication is stopped, another is added. This continues for a couple days, and two more regular vet visits to check on his status and then he's deemed to be well on the mend. I may have overreacted with the emergency thing, but the little guy was whimpering and just looking pathetic with his eye closed. Since then, the cat and dog are getting along well, back to their usual habit of curling up together. However, Timmy does seem a bit shy. I've also found three cats stalking my house. It's somewhat funny really. Timmy starts barking, and I look out the window and there's a cat just sitting there, looking in. I then look around and there's another cat, and another cat. About 15 minutes later, I take Timmy upstairs so he can do his thing and the three cats are now laying in the driveway in front of the house. It's either because of the catnip I planted outside, or they're just trying to screw with Timmy's head.
What else have I been doing to take myself away from gaming? I found a couple molly fry in the fish tank, so I set them up in a little breeder net. Hopefully, they'll survive. Still going through the cycling process on my girl's kid's tank. I wanted to try a fishless cycle, but it seems to keep stalling. Oh well.
Also been working on my stormtrooper armor. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and once I get over my fear of cutting and gluing, I should be done relatively quickly. It's really coming together, I just lack faith in my handyman skills. Finally got to meet up with some of the local 501st members. Looks like it will be a fun time.
College football is proving to be as entertaining as ever. I swear, if you're bored, just check out Auburn and Alabama message boards. They're hilarious. Even though I'm a Bama fan, I'm not afraid to call a spade a spade and fully recognize that when it comes to these fan bases, they're freakin' nuts. In a nutshell - about a month or so ago, this Bama hack claimed that he would play tapes incriminating to Cam Newton. Bama fans all over rejoiced at the thought of Auburn finally being caught with the goods (for the record, I do believe Auburn has never stopped since the Dye era). Anyway, that fizzled, and nothing ever came of the tapes. A couple weeks later, HBO airs their report where four former Auburn players claim they received money. In what can only be an effort to deflect, an Auburn internet guy decides to go on the radio, and using another Auburn internet guy as a "source" levies all these charges of a recruiting scandal against Alabama. That appears to be fizzling out, as his source basically backtracked (while comparing Nick Saban to Hitler). I swear, it's a giant soap opera. Having been an outsider who went to college in Alabama, I am embrassed for/by all these internet whackjobs. Here's a tip for you - if you do decide to go out to these message boards to just read up on the soap opera - read nearly every post where some ignorant jagoff (again, this applies to both fanbases) posits his newest conspiracy theory in the voice and cadence used by Donald Sutherland in JFK. It's great comedy! At least the frequent bad national press coming Auburn's way is taking the heat off of Tressell and OSU.
Wow - wall of text. Guess I'll stop there.
