College Football -
Good weekend ahead. There are two huge games - Florida @ Bama and Texas @ Oklahoma. Sure, the Red River Shootout has lost some luster after UCLA took Tejas to the woodshed in their own house last week.
Florida @ Bama - Florida has come out and said their chief concern is stopping the run. Great, that means Bama will have one receiver who's open. Not so fast, Florida's secondary is really good. Florida, while struggling to put away lesser opponents this season, is still a dangerous team. Basically, Bama has to keep their offense off the field and wear down their defense. I believe giving Nico Johnson an expanded role in the defense will pay dividends. Mark Barron has been playing well, and I think he should nab an INT or at least break up some passes. I think the game will be fairly even at the half, but in the end, we've got a very loaded offense going against a rebuilt defense. Sure, our defense has looked downright shitty at times, but a frosh QB at Bryant Denny will get rattled. In the end, Bama starts to pull away mid 3rd quarter. Bama 34-21.
Oh, and if you feel like being as asshole today, here's a fun game to play. If you see a guy or girl in a Gator shirt, ask them if they can name their last five head coaches. 90% of Gator fans (even the "hardcore" ones who like to sing that "bite my ass song after they win") can't tell you shit about Gator football before 1990. Hell, for grins, ask them to name a pre-1990 QB and you usually get a blank stare.
Texas @ Oklahoma - I have not seen Oklahoma play this year. I do know they've struggled. I also know Texas was embarrassed at home. I'm going to predict Texas here. I don't know if they've got back to back losses in them, and I think they're going to come out with a lot to proove.
Tennessee @ LSU - Yeah, Tennessee sucks, LSU has looked flat. LSU will still win this game hands down.
Stanford @ Oregon - I don't like Oregon. Harbaugh's been doing a gangbusters job over there at Stanford, and I think they'll pull it off.
Other games of interest - Miami @ Clemson (Miami), VA Tech @ NC State (Tech, still don't respect State), Wisonsin @ Michigan State (Wis), Penn State @ Iowa (Penn State?), ND @ BC (C'mon BC!!!).
Cats -
Same old same old here. I came up with an idea yesterday. When the momma cat had gotten out, I put front-line on her, but not the other cats. As this is effective for a month, I thought maybe it's got some kind of odor the cats are picking up. So, I decided to frontline the other two. Took momma to my game room, where I've got Junior sequestered. She instantly got defensive, found a place to hide. Junior came over, wasn't really aggressive, but she was freaking out, hissing and growling and swiping at him. They did get into a little scrap, which I diffused with a spray bottle. Poor momma was so scared, she pooped right there. I have a call into the vet to have him call me to discuss. And have scheduled a visit to a cat specialist for tomorrow - so I'm going to miss some football. I'm at a loss with this behavior. Tonight, I plan on bringing her down again, and having a 5-10 minute meet & greet.
Work -
Fuck douchebag project managers who can't get it through their thick skulls that 120 hours of change control cannot be absorbed into normal activity and that working the weekend isn't the answer to every fucking shortsighted, pissant decision they make. Fuckers. I hate them.
