Well that sucked

I'm still at Brice Willis Stadium, waiting for Alabama to show up and play a football game.  That was the most embarrassing performance the Tide have put forth since the ULM loss in 2007.  Our defense was outmanned, outclassed and outplayed 100% on Saturday.  They looked absolutely terrible.  The offense played poorly, but well enough to have won, if the defense could have made ANY stops.  Offensively, Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram need to have a sit down and get their acts back in gear.  At this point, Ingram doesn't look like a Heisman winner, and Richardson looked equally bad.  I wish they would have given Lacey a chance.  McElroy did okay, but tried to do too much.  Julio Jones also had a passable performance.  The rest of the team needs to have their asses kicked.  If we play the rest of the season the way we played yesterday, we'll lose 3 more games.  Absolutely pathetic.  Hopefully, Saban gets the team in synch, and puts the assistant coaches on notice.  There was no excuse for the performance yesterday.  Losing is one thing.  I wish I could say "well, they gave it their all, and left it all on the field".  Nothing could be further from the truth.  They never showed up to play.

With the rankings in, I think #8 is very generous.  I would have put us at about 15.

I don't think it was entirely that Alabama played bad, but SC really was on top of its game. Did you see that one handed catch? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAsWHHk0gtg

The one handed grab was a great play. South Carolina definitely showed up to play and played lights out. Had Bama shown up, it would have been an instant classic. Unfortunately, SC wanted it more, made very few mistakes and outmanned Alabama in just about every category.

Alabama gave up 7 sacks. Never in the history of entire program had defense ever given up more than 3, history made.

Huh? Bama's given up tons of sacks over the years. In fact, API even had a clever bumper sticker a few years ago - "Honk if you sacked Brodie" after the 2005 Iron Bowl (11 sacks). The three may be the most we've given up this season, not sure. However, a lot of the sacks were taken because a) the o line was getting pushed around like ragdolls at the line and b) McElroy trying to take the game on his shoulders and not throwing the ball away. I think McElroy lost all faith in the defense during the first quarter and then tried to manufacture something big.

The winning streak was a good run. We'll beat Ole Miss by 20 and win the West. Roll Tide Roll!

Man, I hope so. Sad thing is, I think we could beat Ole Miss by 45 and it still wouldn't answer whether or not we're ready for LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. I'm holding out hope that the team has the fire back in them and we win out. I really want another crack at South Carolina. It seems that Bama's good against the media anointed elite teams, and of course, good against the crap teams, but against the solid, well coached teams, we've been shaky. Under that model the next two games should be locks, but the following 3 (not counting the GA State Fighting Curry's) are going to be interesting.
