In fact I would say that Halo personifies the best and worst of Xbox’s online community. The best being the extended groups that form like Geezer Gamers and 2old2play. And the worst which you all know as “Timmies”*.
So after the initial zeal of Halo 3 has worn off. We are faced with the resurgence of the worst of online gaming. The boards and blogs on 2old2play are awash with it. And it irks me something fierce. Why are so many people having such a bad time with such a fun game? I don’t know. And I am not even going to try to figure it out. What I would like to do is extend an invitation to anyone who wants to enjoy halo in a fun environment to join me online. I promise you it is possible to play Halo online and enjoy it. There are many of out there. We have fun playing customs. We laugh about the stupid mistakes we make in the middle of a capture-the-flag game. We offer advice to people we play with. We are competitive, but do not belittle those we play with. We even stop in the middle of a co-op game to shoot the shit and admire the view sometimes. Wow, yeah I fucking sound like I took my Zoloft today. I won’t promise to work miracles. But I can say that it’s not all bad.
*:I would like to go on record as saying I don’t like the term “Timmies”. It rubs me the wrong way, something about labels does that to me.
