Gamefly

Well, for better or worse I'm a gamefly customer.  I say for better or worse because I've never used them before, and didn't see a great benefit for the type of gamer that I am.  I skip around from one game to another to another to another, so I may have 4-5 in progess games, that doesn't match well to a rental system.  I've also heard several negative stories about turn around time for games after you've returned one.  So thats the worse, now for the better.  I have a 9 day vacation coming up just around the corner, to hopefully give them a good go.  I've already loaded my queue up with about 15 games that I've wanted to give a shot, but never bought, as well as upcoming new releases.  So I'm trying to go in with an open mind.  For a skeptics view of Gamefly stay tuned, I'll try to remain as honest and objective as I can.

I wouldn't have signed up for the account, but my wife plays facebook games and one of their "special offers" was to sign up for a trial offer for a load of ingame cash, so she did it to "help me out."  Since she signed me up while I was away she put the first games in my queue, so the first game I'll be getting will be Bayonetta.  Which is a game I've been wanting to play, but of course she's getting it for the PS3 instead of the Xbox, which I'd rather play it on.  So I'll be playing it with inferior graphics and longer load times.  Thanks sweetie.

What can I say though, she was thinking of me, and is trying to save us money as well as increase my game playing.  I've found a great wife that enjoys and supports my game playing hobby.  She was as excited about God of War III and Bioshock II coming out as I was.  Maybe even more for Bioshock II as I haven't played it much at all, and haven't touched any multiplayer aspect.  Gamer girls are hot!

Hopefully your experience goes better than mine; I rarely would land the game I actually wanted but that may be due to my location. Which Facebook game landed the deal?

The Facebook game would be Social City. Wifey is a sucker for the Classic Sim City games. She was actually bummed when she found out Sim City 2000 wouldn't run on our laptop with Windows 7. I've since bought her Sim Societies, which of course she hasn't played becuase of the Facebook Game.

Wonder how the trade ration is. You know how long after sending it in the mail will you get your next game? I have thought of this also, but leary on it.

It depends so heavily on your local post office that it's hard to say. From the time that they get my game to the time they send another is never more than 24 hours. Sometime they'll alert me that they've sent a game and I'll get it in about two to three days. If I send it in on Monday, I'll have a new game for the weekend. Other times they'll alert me that it has been sent and I won't get shit for a week or more. This last time when it showed up it was 10 days late and all mangled. But that's because I live in the ghetto.

I've wanted to sign up, but am afraid it might get stolen out of my mailbox. I may just go back to using a P.O. box.

That Conan game is a shitload of fun for what it is. The 1000 dismemberment achievement isn't as hard as you would think. After you beat it the first time, to cheats unlock. Unlock all combos and infinite Dragon song or whatever it's called when your sword is fully charged up. Play through another on on easy and hack away to 2-handed weapons. Body parts start falling off quite rapidly. And if you happen to chop off both arms and a head off of one guy it counts as 3 dismemberments. Oh and achievements still work with the cheats on. One of the bloodiest good times I ever had.
