A little bit of covert ops.

As I said in a fit of excitement in my last blog, I have been offered and accepted a promotion. I am unable to even tell anyone in the office (aside from people I listed as my references or are directly involved, like my wife) because of the firestorm that may occur when they tell the other applicants that they chose me by a landslide over anyone of them. So, I get to sit here and have to keep my mouth shut while the people around me speculate and spread rumors about who they think got the job.

The job is centered on Grant Accounting, which is not too different from my current job in Contract Accounting.   My new bosses are people that are hard to describe beyond saying they are like me, as are the people who will be my co-workers.  They hunt, fish, play video games, most are even Libertarians!   I feel like I’m going home.  Now the problem…..I will be doing work that is actually much more simplistic. There will be more of it, but I feel boredom will still plague me. At least they will be paying me more to be bored, and being the money grubbing whore I am, I have no problem with that.

Lately I have been feeling a desire play a game I haven’t even touched since 11/1/08 Unreal Tournament 3…..so last night I started it up again….. Honestly, it was a really fun game and for a nearly mindless FPS it is still a fun game to kick back and play. It was one of the first games my wife and I played co-op when we got the second Xbox. We didn’t play it for long, but it was still some fun times.

Now if you’ll excuse me, we are taking a half day today to get an early start on gaming this weekend with More Fallout NV, Dead Space 2, and some Borderlands.

Congrats on the promotion! While it might be boring work, at least you'll be out of the poisonous atmosphere of your current office!
