Shared on Fri, 04/22/2011 - 13:45Since it has been a while since I last posted, here's a bit of an update…. Last Friday my wife drug me to see HAIR at our local Theater…..being surrounded by a bunch of doped up baby boomer hippies trying to relive the good old days, mixed with a pile of 16yr old want-to-be hippies is not my idea of a fun night out.
Saturday, it rained like I’ve never seen before, my boss’s basement flooded, as did most of the houses in central PA, except ours…. Our basement was bone dry, makes me glad we build at the top of a hill.
Sunday, planted in the garden, mostly perennial flowers(with the tulips blooming the next day), but I also started some seedlings for the garden.

Monday, get to work only to learn that, thanks to a water main break, there is no water in the entire city. We were send home at 10 after all of the toilets were filled to capacity and could not be flushed, the whole office smelled like the inside of the only rank old port-o-potty at a hot sauce eating contest. We sat at home and played games the rest of the day.
Tuesday, the office was still closed. So we played games all day
Wednesday, a 2 hour delay. So we played games for 2 hours, beating the single player campaign in Portal 2, and went to work….an hour later they closed the office again and we sat at home and played games all day.
Yesterday was the first full day I worked all week, though the office still has one hell of a nasty stink to it.
And Today…. got up at 4am to run, (we are doing the “couch to 5k” workout) and on the final leg leading home I saw a dog off to the side of the walkway, I didn’t think anything of it, but as we got closer I realized this was no normal dog….it was a corgi, and it was one sick looking dog. No owner in sight, and it didn’t have a collar. I wasn’t sure how awake I was earlier but when that little thing took a nip at me (it missed) the adrenalin burst that hit me was like a bolt of lightning, now I’ve had run-ins with sick animals before, but this sick little dog was the first one to actually scare the hell out of me. This may be because my normal interaction with sick animals is to have to put them down from 50+ yards away, and just nudge them into a hole with a shovel. (The area has had some problems with rabid animals over the past 2 years. While I consider myself to be an animal lover, to see the later stages or rabies, putting an animal down in the early stages is doing them a gracious favor). While I don’t think this dog was rabid, it was not well. Next time we go running, I may be carrying my little Snake Slayer just in case it decides to give chase, or if it has any bigger, sicker friends around.
Now I am so bored. The Friday work day is mostly over, and while I have plenty of work to do, I can’t do it because the people I need to communicate with to do my job all took a long weekend. Fun fun.
This is Bela, doing his best impression of me durring my days off.....
