So, my new job…..hasn’t started yet. Because it is an inter-office promotion my current bosses have the option of “not releasing me”. This is a rarely used ability for management to hold on to an employee if they were to refuse to train someone on their work, or if it is a critical position that ONLY that person can do. In my case they are refusing to release me until another section releases a person who was supposed to be filling an existing vacancy in my section. That guy is being held because he is working in a section that is the current pet project for one of the Directors. And they don’t want to release him until they hire someone to fill his position…..HR won’t let them fill the position until it is officially 100% vacant…..so, here I sit.

HR has managed to ease the burden a bit, they may not have to release me to take my promotion, but they DO have to pay me at my promoted rate. So, here I sit, doing the same old work but as of the end of the week(provided all paperwork goes through), I’ll be doing this same old boring job for a lot more money.

On the gaming front, after picking up a second copy of Reach (Legendary Ed.) for uber-cheap, I sent back the copy I had from Gamefly. In return they sent me a copy of Dead Rising 2. Honestly, I’m a little disappointed with it. I was really hoping for a new game, but what I received was a new-ish plot and the same old game mechanics. Yes, crafting is cool, but the rest of the game feels exactly like the first one. Yet again I find myself replaying the beginning just to gain PP and level up to the point that I can actually play the game without having to avoid every psycho.

The other projects; I spent a bit of time today trying to find some hardened clay to use for building some dioramas for my models, so, I start searching some local hobby and craft shops. I go to the search bar and type in “clay”. Search returned for 5 items and a suggested correction….you searched for 'clay', did you mean to search for Yarn?.....um…no, I want CLAY!, so I search for “Modeling clay”; Websearch- You searched for Modeling Clay, did you mean to search for Yarn? Grrrrr. I guess the webmaster was told to push the yars sales. So, I finally found a local shop that sells model train supplies, …..I hope. I am a bit worried because this place advertises a wide selection of auto parts in addition to toy train supplies….I might as well just get my stuff from Amazon.
