I have been (ok here comes the heresy) been getting a bit tired of playing MW2, so was looking for something else. I remember now why I don't play it. It's much too long of a commitment to play an entire match of Gold Rush or any other gametype for that matter. Problem is I try to play the game COD style and it doesn't work out that way.
Today I was home with my son who is sick, I downloaded the Xbox DEMO and played online for a bit. It is definately better than the first game, and the controls (you can tell) have gotten a lot closer to the tactical layout of COD, this is actually a blessing and a curse. I don't know if others have this problem, but I can't be good at more that 2 FPS's at once. It started when I played COD4 and Halo 3 at the same time. I can't tell you how many times after playing COD4 and switcing to Halo3, that while playing H3 and I wanted to reload my weapon (right shoulder) I hit X instead (COD4's reload) and tossed a shield drain in front of me on the ground. Or vice versa, after playing H3 and switching to COD4, I would go to reload using right bumber and instead, toss a grenade. BFBC2 uses left stick click to run, X to reload, right trigger for aim down site, Y for weapon changes etc, much like COD. But right bumber is knife, and you have to toggle to a grenade to throw it. Weapons had larger recoil and (although the graphics were better) there is a lot of tearing on screen.
So between L4D, half life, TF2, Halo, COD, BFBC, UT, you name it... it was just too much for the muscle memory in my hands to deal with. That's why I stick with playing COD.
Which reminds me, I've found myself wanting to play W@W a lot more, so if anyone wants to play send me an invite. Been mixing it up a lot with COD4 (which I can't believe how much more fun that game is than MW2) and COD5 lately.
Enough rants...
Thoughts on any of this?
