Shared on Mon, 02/25/2013 - 11:00To keep things tightly compact and spur more discussion around the site, we're going to start cutting even more fat around the forums in terms of how we split the discussion boards. If you guys remember in V2 we had forums split by platform. This meant PS3 people talking about Call of Duty did so in a different forum than Xbox players. It made finding relevant topics a nightmare and gave off the impression that there was nothing to talk about.
We eventually got smart and moved all discussion to be based on Genre. While this helped a bit, it still isn't the best method of getting discussion to funnel to a smaller location. In fact if you look over to the more popular gaming forums like NeoGaf, you'll notice that they keep an extremely clean forum structure.
So over the coarse of the next few weeks we're going to cut even more areas and funnel more discussion into a more general base. Hot games will still be converted into Division which allow leaders to run their own forum and post news to the 2old2play home page. On the chopping block so far...
Mech (converted to division), Peripheral Games, survival horror, Guitar Hero / Rock Band, Racing Games, SWTOR, WoW, and a few others.

What? WoW people are going to have to be in the same forum as SWTOR people?!
But none of us post anything as it is! Now it's going to be twice as much nothing, and how will I find anything?!?

what about community announcements, member only deals, and meet ups being consolidated?
seems as though one forum could handle all of that.
