I am back from vacation land.  Little did I know that Maine is actually called Vacation Land, its on the licensce plates, so it has to be true.

However, not everything is wonderful.

I post this now with a message.

My best friend, his name is Chris, he is a Xbox Live player, he does not however belong to this site, he rarely screws about on the computer.  Chris is going to be my best man at my wedding this summer, at least I hope is still able to do it.

Chris has a daugther, she is 12, she was 12.

Last week, while at her mother's house, his daughter borrowed a bicycle, to go back to her mom's place.  While ridding down a very steep hill, a hill that has had multiple car accidents at its base, one involving a firetruck and one involving a ambulance just this past fall, she tried to stop her bicycle.  Finding apparently that the breaks eitehr stunk or did not work on her bicycle, she planted her feet into the sidewalk, this immediately threw her over the handle bars of her bike.  She went through a hedgerow and struck the ground about as hard as a 12 year old girl could.

When the ambulance or paramedics arrived, she was not breathing.  She was resucitated and brought to the hospital where she was found to have a broken neck and major head trauma and clinical brain death.

So quick a young life was over.  Chris had her when he was very young, he is only 31 right now.  I have never seen a father that was more involved in his daughter's life.  He was trying to get full custody of her to improve her life and environment.

Chris was just married last summer also to a wonderful girl who loved this girl alot.

Both Chris and jhis daughters mother made the decision to donate organs so that others may have a better chance at life.

I was in Maine when I found out.  10hours away.  I still have not talked to him, I was scared to be honest.  I don't have any words.  Last night I had a anxiety attack thinking about what to say.  I can only imagine when you suffer a loss like this, you are never the same.  This child was his life.

On a final note, she was not wearing a bike helmet.  If you have a child, and they have a bike, or anything with wheels, they need to have a helmet that fits them properly.  You never know when a instant will come along that will change everything single thing you know and think.

Rest In Piece Cara.

Wow, man, that's rough. A parent should never have to go through that. Be strong for you friend, and know that I will have you both in my thoughts and prayers. Steve

Your friend may simply be happy to hear your voice and know that you're thinking about him. The words may come, they may not, but he'll remember you called no matter what you say.

Just call him and tell him you don't know what else to say except you are sorry for his loss and go from there.
