Shared on Wed, 02/14/2007 - 07:41So, I am going to simplify this one today, I don't want to end up with two blogs in the pic list here and I have two things I want to hit upong today.
Number 1:
Snow: Well, my part of NY state is finally getting some real snow, we have a Blizzard warning in effect until I htink midnight tonight, we are expecting about 16-26" of snow. Not nearly as bad as alot of the country, but its our first and just like every real first significant snow fall....NO ONE CAN REMEMBER how to friggin drive in the snow. FFS, its New Yawk, we should be able to drive, especially here in the Northeast section. I watches a 2-whele drive pickup truck jacknife this morning on the way to work, oh thats bad, but this A-hole deserved it, you see, he was towing another pickup truck....on a flat bed. Yes thats right, he is a asshat with no sense of judgment. I told my staff yesterday to not take any chances with the traffic and if they weren't positive they could make it into work safely, not to come in at all. That and alot of them have kids and ALL the schools are closed so no child care, and I try to be a understanding boss..most of the time. So here we sit, me and the one guy that did come in. We have 7 patients scheduled, I doubt that most of them will come, the smart ones will stay home.
Number 2:
The glory of surround sound. I finally picked up a replacement home theater system for my 360 last night. My original one went belly up a few years ago and I could never justify the cost to get a new one. Well, I got a cheaper Sony system, it has the optical input I wanted and the program where you put the mic at your listening level and it will autocalibrate the speakers for you. Took me about 20mins to set up and all I can say is this. RainbowSix Vegas is the SHIT with surround sound going, holy crap, I forgot how good things sound. And for what is essentially a lower end speaker set up, the GUNS, are loud and obnoxious the way they were meant to be. Tango screams like a banshee when set ablaze. This is my formal thank you note to my fiance for forcing me to spend money on something like that. I am looking forward to watching the Matrix later on. I know everyone has HD set ups and all that goodness, I just can't afford it at the moment as I have stated before. But my TV looks great with the video set up I have, I do utilize all the video cables and my TV is one of the ones that has the inputs for them all and cross references them to elimate ghosting and blur in the image, so its as crisp as it can be. BUt the SOUND is what always envelopes me in the entertainment. I look forward to next year after taxes and getting some HD visual to go with everything.
Stay warm everyone.
