Headblade

I always said that as soon as it appeared that I was going to loose alot of hair I would just cut if off.

I chickened out a few years ago and instead went for the really short but still present look, where you shave it down with the smallest attachment for the buzzclippers.

It was really great, I could have my wife do it every couple of weeks for me and I wouldn't have to go spend money at the barber to get it done..win friggin win.

I went to San Diego a few weeks ago and in my idiocy, decided not to wear a hat outside when I went for lunch, this resulted in a wonderful red skull....I'm really really white so I don't tan, I go white...red...pink...peel...white.  Sometimes it even skips steps, but I digrese.(sp? )

When I got home I told my wife that I was having my head because I knew  it was going to peel and I was not ready for inch scale dandruff to be a problem.  Needless to say, she was not thrilled with the idea and only after being annoyinng she shaved my head down to a height that I felt I could properly attack with my trusty old MP3 power gillette shaver.   Its one of those nifty one that vibrate like a chinese sex toy.   So she shaved it out and off I went to soak my skull and shave it.

I had NO friggin idea how time involved it would be, that first night it took me about 30mins to get it all off and I had at least 6 small cuts on my scalp and as with all head lacerations, they bleed continously while I shaved.     I went through about 4 razors in the first couple weeks since I have to shave my head every two days to keep up on it.  The thing of it is that these blades are not friggin cheap.  Its like 28 bucks for 6 of them or something stupid like that.

While at the market shopping for better shaving gela and more razors I found a little product that has been a god damn savior.

The headblade.   www.headblade.com  Its a small razor set up, that is pretty much a amalgam of a razor and a matchbox toy car.  It has a loop you put in your middle finger and you just roll it across your scalp and it shaves it nice and close.   I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and I have only just changed the blade.  And these blades are a hell of alot cheaper, something like 6 bucks for 4 of them.   In addition I also picked up the Headblade brand shaving cream and head lubricant (which comes in shiney or flat depending on your taste for how your skull looks.

The shaving cream is  menthol and pretty much like thick hand soap, which is perfect, it really stays in place and you get that nice cooling feeling as you are dragging razors over your skull.  I highly recommend the lubricant for post shaving, it makes a big difference in the way the skin feels when you are all said and done.

One thing I never really knew was how often I have to shave my head.  It really gives me a appreciation of how fast hair really does grow.  Sadly, it doesn't grow everywhere on my head that it used to.

On a aside, my wife loves it now because instead of shaving my face once a week I do it at the same time I do my head, so she doesn't have to deal with my whiskery self.

I tried the headblade, too, and found that it just cuts me up too much, maybe it just too close of a shave for me. I've been shaving my head for over a year, and I find the best method for me is to just do it in the shower with a gillette mach 3 or Schick pro quatro. Gotta post some pics of your dome now. I'll warn you, I frequently have a burning desire to paint my head. It's just a blank canvas.

http://www.baldguyz.com/products/prdshavegel/ This stuff works like a champeen, and I use the Mach 3 and no cuts so far.
