It's spring....

Baine

And once again my mind wanders back to words spoken by my wife late last summer... "Of course you can buy a motorcycle in the Spring...."

Amazingly enough, she remembers saying it, and still say's its ok.

It will be my first motorcycle, but I have made sure my health insurance is top notch and so is my disability insurance.  I have a good life insurance policy as well.

Now to get my lesson's and find a bike that's the right fit for me.

I am 5'6" with a 32-33" inseem, so I am fairly short..as I am sure all my "friends" here will make plenty of fun of in the comments here.  And I am sure there will be plenty of pictures of tiny bikes and shit like that.  But I need to find something low enough to be comfortable for a short, first time rider.  I am thinking of getting a Kawasaki 250, which is made for small ninja's, also the Kawasaki Versys is a possiblity since it has decent adjustments and the reviews say people of my height are pretty comfortable on it.   I'm leaning more towards Kawies since they are plentiful and cheaper around where I live than Honda's and Yamaha's, and  first bike should not be "expensive".

Ahhh...spring.

250R Ninja Sport Bike? You seem more of the cruiser bike type. If I didn't have the kids, I would push to get one. Maybe next century.

I agree Elman, I always pictured baine as the cruiser kind of guy with a headband that hangs below the back of the helmet and has "if you can read this, the bitch fell off" written on it kind of guy

Agreed, Bainard. You on a crotch rocket just doesn't work. Frankly, I don't see how anybody enjoys those things. Unless you're Vanilla Ice. That I can understand. My preference (which I will probably never buy) is a Triumph Bonneville T100. I'd love to get an early 1960s model and rebuild it, but I don't have time for that anymore. The "Modern Classic" line has the same goo looks of the original Bonnies but with modern hardware and electrics.

Well from what Cannabis has told me, you can purchase a Buell Blast and if you keep it in top notch shape you can trade it back in FOR THE FULL VALUE towards another Buell or Harley. So I'd check them out. Cause they don't have the high RPM that other crotch rockets have, more torque and lower revs make it more cruiser style.

I'll look into that, there is a local Harley/Buell dealer near here. It might be something I get as a second bike depending on the cost. Buells are very nice looking bikes though.

Baine, That Buell is also alot more new rider friendly and will help you learn proper riding techniques.
