Back to the grindstone...

Well, it was bound to happen eventually.  At some point in time, the short term medical disability would run its course, and I would have to do the dreaded task - return to work.  Two weeks to the day of the surgery, I got the doctor's OK to return to the office, and start earning the paycheck once again.  This comes with both a bit of sadness and relief as you'd expect.

Yes, it was great to be home for two weeks, not eating up precious vacation time to do so.  The downside of course was the recovery process from the surgery, which made the first week or so of it less than ideal.  But after the first week, I was back on my feet, moving around without a lot of undue discomfort, and getting back to a more normal routine.  That is, until my annual 'change of seasons cold' this past weekend, which knocked the wind out of my sails.  Fortunately even that has not past, and short of having the main incision completely close (still healing, and probably will be for some time still - was a 2 - 2.5" opening), everthing is back to normal.

And in that comes the relief portion.  The idea that I can get back to a regular schedule, with regular activities once again.  I will still have to be careful for a little while to make sure I don't open the prmiary incision sure, but I don't have to worry about going to my kids soccer games, or some school activity, or whatnot.  That is a HUGE relief on the mind and body.  While being told you have to stay put and recover isn't all bad...even for me after the first week I was getting antsy.  Other people I know would have been crawling out of their skins after the first 72 hours.

Now...how to deal with the 549 emails that are sitting in my Inbox?  /me reaches over to the "Delete All" button...
