Bidding a friend farewell

Today I bid one of my morning favorites Goodbye...

The Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

Middle of last year, when I fell off the weight loss bandwagon for that particular year, I started being able to stop in and get a cup of coffee in the morning. It's important because while my company gives all the free soda and, more importantly, water you can drink, the coffee from the pots is nothing short of swill. So I started stopping in for a cup most mornings and have been enjoying it ever since.

However, today is the last morning before I start hauling my ass out of bed at 6:20am to hit the gym at the office by 7:00am. Since the last thing I want is a cup of coffee before the workout...that stop on the way in has been officially eliminated. While it will be good for the waistline (tho' I do have my coffee with skim milk and Splenda), it'll be even better for the pocketbook. An extra $40/mo can't hurt.

Soo...I bid ye' a fond farewell, o' beautiful cup of joe. You will be missed.

B.

I'm betting your next blog is going to be about your withdrawal symptoms. I swear there is some drug (besides massive amounts of caffeine) in that coffee that keeps people addicted.

Many workout enthusiasts swear by "stacks" of caffeine, nicotine, and sugar before workouts. Not necessarily the healthiest of habits considering the commonly used sources of these substances, but the theory of their use (in moderation) before physical activity is sound.

You can almost buy a new video game a month with the savings in coffee  Starbucks is huge here, i pass 3 of them on the 10 minute walk from the train to my office and people are always lined up. Thankfully i've never gotten into the habit. I do like diet soda though, but i don't tap that until lunch. I try and start my day with plenty of water. I want to work out in the morning and eat a big breakfast but i'm not sure I can get up any earlier. I think i'd need to get up at like 5am so i can still be inthe office working at 7:30. I may have to change my hours, i just can't see getting up at 5am. I need my 8 hours sleep and i'm not going to bed a 9 like a little Timmy
