Depression

With as large of a community as we have here at 2o2p, it's a fairly safe bet a good number have either had a battle with depression personally, or had it touch someone in their immediate family. Yesterday, I joined that club. After a visit early yesterday afternoon, someone in my family now has his own perscription of Valium. No, not me...not one of my kids...not even my wife...but one of my cats!

I shit you not. One of our cats has been prescribed Valium in an attempt to relieve some marking issues we've been having with him as of late. For some odd reason, he's taken to pissin' on my floor molding in a few spots in the house. Where its the same spots each time, it's not a medical issue but a behavioral issue. The cat is fixed, so it's not horny and lookin' for some action. Sooo...maybe the thing is anxious and needs a popper to make him happy?

Someone in site chat put it best yesterday: I'm a cat. I can lick myself. I get free food. I don't have a job. What the fuck is there to be depressed over?!?

You have definitively ruled out a possible urinary tract infection?

@DA - Yup, tested, treated, and cleared. Plus, if it was a UTI, it wouldn't be as controllable as it is for the beast. He literally pissed the same two or three spots, and nowhere else. If it was medical, it'd be wherever he found himself when the moment hit, so to speak.

My cat comes upstairs and find a place to squat (usually the couch) and pretend like she is peeing when I buy cat litter she doesn't like. She never really pees but afterwords she acts like she is trying to cover up the spot. Change your brand of cat litter lately?

Our neutered cat attempts to spray but thank heavens nothing happens other than his tail twitching.
