Shared on Thu, 08/09/2007 - 09:12I will admit it – I played with my Wii last night.
That’s right, after several failed attempts at securing one earlier in the year, and then giving up on the system as an unnecessary addition to the home, two things happened that forced my hand. First, my wife took my kids over to one of her friend’s houses who happened to have a Wii for her children. My kids play it, my kids love it, and my kids want it. What ensues is the chat of how it has made its way now onto the Christmas lists, and with any luck Nana will get it for them collectively. I just nod, knowing that we’re still talking 4 months out, and their attention might falter off of it by then.
Then, my geekiness kicks in, and I start trolling for a system. I’ve done a bit of selling and buying of computer and gaming items over the past years, so have some sites that specialize in that type of thing (akin to our own Game Trades forum). Well wouldn’t you know it…first day looking and I stumble a thread for:
Wii For Sale. 1 week old. Comes with games and classic controller.
Bought this Wii about 2 weeks ago. RE4 was fun as shit, but theres not enough games out yet and I need the money more. I have the original box, everything that comes with the system, the classic controller, the HD component cables, RE4, RE0 (GC), Starfox64, Mario 64 (D/led to wii)
Looking for $300.
*blinks* That’s right...a system that is a week or two old, barely used, with accessories and the highest rated new Wii game out for $35 over retail. Did I mention the guy was local to me, 15 minutes from my house, and delivers like Dominoes? Well, actually, he was going to deliver, but ran into company at his house…so proceeded to knock $20 off the price if I picked it up. *blinks again* Needless to say, I jumped on the deal and now have a Wii to play with.
After getting it all set up, what’d I think about it? Well, first off, it certainly won’t be replacing my 360. It makes a gamer, like me, immediately think “last gen” (aside from the interface). However, does that mean it won’t be an absolute riot when we host a big party and have a few beers in us…hell no! And, does it mean the kids won’t absolutely love it? C’mon…it’s Nintendo!
All in all, was a pretty good day I’d say. Now, if I could only get some people to send me over some Mii’s for my parade…
