I should know better

Planning ahead = bad.  It's just not something men should probably do in general.  But either way, I actually had a minor stroke of genius a month or two ago with respect to my eldest son's xmas gift.  Rather than cave into the random crap he asks for, and then quickly starts rotting in the basement after one or two weeks, I ordered up a pair of tickets for the Metallica show in Philadelphia on January 17th.  This would be his first concert ever, he absolutely is in love with Rock Band, and has even started taking guitar lessons a few months ago.  I was going to be a hero.  Notice the term was.

While talking about his xmas list that is soon to be delivered to his grandparents, he is stuck on a Zune.  Well, expensive + electronics != good xmas gift from grandparents.  Halfway through the "And your mom and I probably wouldn't get you it either" sentance, thinking that we already had his gift bought and paid, I realized the issue.

We're going to be in Orlando.

Soooo....anyone in the market for some decent seats for a Metallica concert in Philadelphia?

"Am I just getting crochetty?? Am I just getting old??" Well, we all are getting older, and I didn't know you had such a thing for crochet. You should talk to my Mom she is awesome at that stuff. You could be the daughter she never had, but always wanted! :) You are a wee bit crotchety too though ;) Seroiusly though, I completely understand. I am very much the same way in big crowds. People in large crowds are often, inebreated, stupid, and rude (more than they normally are ;) ) and can completely ruin any event. I love live music, but cringe at the thought of seeing an act at any venue over 2000 people. Also, any event that is FREE just brings every type of person out of the woodwork. This sounds like what happened; coupled with poor planning and execution by the event organizer. Sorry for to hear about the ruined evening, but at least is was a night out with adults away from the kids, sorta.

How much? One of my business partners in Philadelphia really likes rock music. I can give her a call and let her know.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time Rock. People are ignorant and don't care about anything but themselves. If you'd like, I'll make you a "Bitch-b-good" stick. It's a three foot piece of ironwood that's been trimmed and sanded at one end for you to hold. Any time someone breaks the two foot personal space perimeter, raise it above your shoulder so they know they are intruding. If that still doesn't work, you are in Texas and are not subject to the same gun control laws that other states inforce so strictly.

I honestly thing a letter to the events organizers is in order. I mean what if there was an emergency? It sounds like something that happens 4th of July on our levee. No official parking, people shooting off their own fireworks in crowded conditions in various stages of inebriation, kids with no shoes on running around the fields. It was fine when we were younger with a little planning but now its easier to buy tickets to the ball park and watch the game first. Also having kids changes your perspective, it really does.

The "world" can be a nasty place. And yes, it is getting worse. That's why you are here, to be a light for the world. Your behavior is your testimony. And, I have always hated crowds, too.

That's bad timing dude. I live in Miami and go with the family to Disney World a lot (annual passes), so perhaps we'll cross paths there.
