Music at Work

Here's a topic that is sure to showcase a bit of the diversity we have at 2o2p (assuming - probably incorrectly - that people will comment ;).

How many out there have the ability to listen to music while they work? I'm in a nice place where not only can I listen to music, but I can also choose what I want to listen to thanks to a good 'ol office. When I joined the company 2 years and change ago, I was sharing some space so that made things a little difficult. The person wasn't used to having a 'roommate', and had a radio set up that she listened to daily. Fortunately, wasn't something that I minded all too much (oldies station, so would have some Floyd and the like from time to time).

But like I said, now I can control my own music. I'm one that can get distracted a bit with traditional music, so I hunted down Streaming Soundtracks.com that fits my bill perfectly. The site is dedicated to streaming music from ... well, duh ... soundtracks from movies. Members listening in can request songs that go into a queue for playing throughout the day. It's a good mix of various instramentals and theme music that makes my day fly by. Something to check out if you want that background music that is there, but not there if you will.

I was told that I could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven, I told Bill that if Sandra is going to listen to her headphones while she's filing then I should be able to listen to the radio while I'm collating so I don't see why I should have to turn down the radio because I enjoy listening at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven.

Fortunately, I have my own office and can listen to music at a level that doesn't interfere with my work or conversations on the phone.

I listen to what I want via my psp or my other mp3 player. I just plug up the headphones and ignore everyone for most of the day.
